AP Racing master cylinder...

Is changing the standing MS to an AP Racing version simply a straight swap, or are other modifications required? Debating whether spending 300 notes on one will be money well spent?

Car is a year 2000 SL-R - I thought these had the AP racing version as standard, but clearly not!

Thanks all...

Nick

I found it much easier to get a firm pedal - with reduced travel - using the larger-bore (AP) cylinder.

(The service kit included an exploded diagram of the innards, which I though was something 'nice to have' as well.)

I did this some while ago to my SLR Nick. Very straight forward. Didn't even really need to bleed the brakes.

I pre filled up the new master cylinder. loosened every thing off & did a quick swop over. Worked a treat.

The new cylinder will give you a much firmer peddle which is far better for toe n heel.

Wasn’t standard on the SLR as far as I can tell. My original order lists the uprated MC and addition of a bias valve as an optional extra. Cost at the time of buying the car was £109.39.
