finmac
are there two different threads on the gear lever? The older one a fair bit bigger than the new one?
p.mole1
I thought they were all 3/8 UNC
Wrightpayne
My original kit with 5 speed had a converter for the plastic gear knob. I’ve used the same lever on a 6 speed box and the 6 speed ally knob screws straight on without the converter.Ian
finmac
OK it seems there are three different possibilities: 1. 3/8 UNC2. M12 with an adapter sleeve which when removed drops it to 3/8 UNC 3. Lever is threaded M12, no adaptor, so you need an M12 threaded Knoboption 3 is by far the most awkward. That's what my car seems to have - annoyingly. So looks like I need to source an M12 replacement gear knob
Wrightpayne
Or get a new gearstick.black or white nylon might be the cheapest option.Ian

blueyedbiker
If it's 3/8 UNC it's identical to M10 and there's millions of M10 threaded knobs out there for not much money.
blueyedbiker
Again there's loads of M12 threaded knobs out there;http://www.rosscastors.co.uk/50mm-ball-knob-with-an-m12-metal-moulded-thread.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw75HWBRAwEiwAdzefxJcX-3UkEJh1UkkHfu9eXefI7j8mLl8ZeMRER3-TjhiQc8ca3embBRoCs5oQAvD_BwE
