For those with carbs.

Anyone use a Colourtune for setting pilot screws? Good / Bad ??

Thinking of getting one to set up the carbs on the R1.

I used a colourtune on a BEC with a ZX9R and I got it through the SVA so it worked for me.

I use one on an MGB engine and its fine.

Clive, I use it to set the idle mixture on the carbs on my Elan, works well.

Had a play over the weekend. 3 cylinders sparking well but showing yellow, 4th with very weak intermittent spark. Stripped down the coils / leads, and found quite a lot of corrosion. All clean up, and trimmed ends on the leads.Now all 4 sparking well. Managed to get at the two outer pilot screws only, and adjusted them to correct " Bunson  blue".

I then removed the carbs and checked the settings. The two adjusted were within a quarter of a turn of each other, so I've set all the carbs to the richer setting. Then tried to balance the 4 carbs, but again access to the adjusters is nye impossible. They're all pretty similar, so have left it for another day.

Had a run this afternoon, and she's pulling well, with a good pick up and nice idle. I'm sure it could be better, but I need someone with tiny asbestos hands to access the screws!
