slawrence
Hello I am trying to work out what is a suitable tyre replacement for the ZZR on 14" wheels, for high/good performance I have been told that the Yoko A048 and A021 are both no longer road legal, and the Toyo R888 has been discontinued. I have been reccomended the Vredestein Sport track five as the most suitable high performane tyre. This is a very affordable tyre. Is there any consensus out there on this? Thanks Simon
Roadsport06
R888 are still available. No experience with those Vredstein.
K7 VCT
I've been using nankang ns2r in street compound, done around 1000 miles.Very good grip and overall performance, certainly miles better than Avon zv3 or 5.Good choice of sizes and good value.Recommended to me by a friend glad I tried them out. Area Representative Tin Man Posted May 1, 2017 Area Representative Share Posted May 1, 2017 I was going to try the Toyo R888R when my Yokohama AO 21's wear out. Red Cat 7, how do you find them?

MadCat52
I was going to go for the Toyo R888R's then Stephen posted https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/nankang-ar1-track-day-tyre-compared-wth-r888r-and-zzr and now I'm dithering again!!!
RedCat7
Only have ZV3 to compare to but R888R are gripper wet or dry. Very surprising that the wear rate is low - actually less than the ZV3s. 1kg heavier per corner. Ride stiffer. I'll be buying them again.
Area Representative Tin Man Posted May 2, 2017 Area Representative Share Posted May 2, 2017 Looked at the Nankang NS-2R, they look to be a better tyre for wet conditions. They are also available in two different compounds. I assume the harder compound would be better for mainly road use. By the way, Yokohama A048R's are road legal.
