X/flow sealed cooling system

Hi, just got a 1600 sprint - the fan was on driving home- I'm going to flush the system tmrw- but have read about converting to a sealed system- can anyone tell me what parts I will need - or a photo of the system in car?  Thanks

I don't have my X Flow any more but I did convert mine to a sealed system. 

From memory you will need to find an old style Ford Fiesta thermostat housing , also you will need an old style expansion tank that use to be fitted to some of the K series Sevens. I know if you speak to Mick at Redline he did have some of the tanks. 

What I did was to fit two small angle brackets to the top of the heater and bolted the expansion tank to those.  

Im sure I could find some pictures somewhere of the engine bay if you Blat mail me your email address I will try to send them over. 

It is a worthwhile thing to do.

Thanks for the info- only just got the car on Thursday - I've got her up and running - it's a 1600 sprint with 11,000mls  1996) just be sat in a nice dry garage unused- the car does have the brackets for a tank to be mounted on the front crucifix - same as on my vx--

as an after thought  - the car has both engine bay diagonals removable-never seen both removable - my 97 vx hpc only has the exhaust side as removable

My old supersprint waterpump shed its impeller after a long period of not being used, was very gummed up when I took it all apart, from memory the top hose was hot, the fan was running but the bottom hose was cool, might be worth checking your hose temperatures?

Thanks Bob- I've replaced the bottom hose as the old one was perished and hard- it all seems to get hot - I've flushed the system out- and the heater matrix has just let go lol

Now the heater is down, you may find it useful to fit a bleed valve midway along the top heater hose, such means I no longerhav eto jack up the front of my X/F when refilling the coolant.
