tomwood
Hi All,mines due its first MOT next month and just wondering if anyone had any good ideas as to where I could take it that's close to Guildford?A search of the archives turned up Cranleigh Exhaust Centre as an option and some others in Redhill but they are a little far away. Would anyone happen to know of one a bit closer?ThanksTom

tomwood
Hi John,I'm west of Guildford (Wood Street Village) so something south should be fine. What did you have in mind?
JNC
Petworth MOT Centre are 7 friendly , as you drive in to Petworth from North Chapel the green is on your left , turn left immediately after the green then turn right into small trading est and first on right is MOT center , they are old school but very good , you may be asked to do the brake test on rolling road while tester operates controls . m1 se7en
Try giving Jez at Back on Track a call. They have lots of experience with Caterhams and Lotus cars. They also have a local and very friendly (tame) MOT tester Back on Track 5 Westfield Rd, Guildford GU1 1RR Tel: 01483 456030
tomwood
Thanks for the input guys. I was thinking perhaps a call to Back on Track might be worthwhile but thought they may have been a lotus only specialist. Nice to hear they've got some Caterham experience. Will give them a shout. Failing that, I'll give the place in Petworth a shout that you mentioned John.thanks again, Tom

Smithy77
I just take mine to the nearest local grease monkey, but I book in person to explain the deal before hand."It's a Caterham, only I can fit in it and know what the control are so I will be your assistant, and it definitely doesn't need an emissions test. Honest"Just had mine done last week at the nearest MOT place Google found, Tyreland it's called. Was a very pleasant chap and we spoke a bit about the car before he tested it, and on the subject of emissions, I told the tester it was a kit build and didn't have the original engine and that I was 99% sure it was emissions exempt (even though I'm 99% sure it isn't!). He said that as I probably know more about these cars then him we should be OK, and his VOSA computer even seemed a bit confused - I got away with it! He never even tested my new horns (emergency fitment the day before), nor the wipers or windscreen washer, and he even turned a blind eye to my duff/blinding headlight lens! He was just happy to be testing a Caterham for the first time in 25 years of testing, so he was telling me.My point is, no need to travel miles to find a "Caterham friendly" MOT center - 9 times out of 10 any old one will do
