Most commercial places do refurb calipers on an exchange basis, which I guess is OK so long as your "early" type 12 are the same as "normal" type 12 calipers. You'll get your imperial threads changed into metric ones and suddenly at some vital point your bleed nipples will go pop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Beware.
