chris956
Seen a few videos lately on 7's having a shunt and got thinking that my FIA roll "Bar" is not enough BUT I like the protection of the full OEM hood. Is there an option which accommodates both or is it a case of one or the other ?? Cheers
Area Representative Richard Price Posted October 27, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted October 27, 2014 Roadsport cages fit inside the weather gear. However, you can end up with steel tubes very close to your head.Superlight cages run outside where your weather gear would be, but the tubes are all further away fron your head.I've got good clearance between my helmeted head, and I have my harnesses TIGHT, but, when I had a substantial off a couple of years ago, my helmet was still damaged with contact with the cage. For my liking, roadsport cages are just a little too close. chris956
Cheers Richard. Has anyone got any photos of the 2 different versions ? My car is an SV r400d if that makes a difference ?
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted October 28, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted October 28, 2014 You will have to pay far more attention to those with cages (I run with an FIA bar) but I would consider getting hood or half-hood made to fit the cage you choose. I'm sure that Soft Bits for Sevens could do something for you.
Ian Mackenzie
Hi thereI've got a roadsport cage in mine, I've also got a lowered floor in mine with race seats so I'm almost on the floor of the car and there is clearance for me with this cage (I'm 5ft10). Without the lowered floor for me it would be marginal.....CheersIan
