Leadership Team robj Posted April 25, 2014 Leadership Team Share Posted April 25, 2014 Thanks to all who helped try to find the cause of the transmission noise coming from the rear of my car at Blyton. When we got back (after a slight in-car shower) it was a lot quieter but still audible. Gary, your diagnosis was perfect, the spring at the diff end of the drive shaft has broken in the middle. Thanks again, Robert Edited by - robj on 25 Apr 2014 12:26:
garybee
Glad it proved to be something small. There should be no harm done as a result of that, maybe a little accelerated wear in the joint whilst it was broken. All ready for Curborough 1 then! Leadership Team robj Posted April 25, 2014 Author Leadership Team Share Posted April 25, 2014 Unfortunately it has chewed up the end of the drive shaft and the cup that sits on it...
garybee
Bum! Will the shaft still take a new joint (if so £30 job)? Probably correct part
Area Representative Richard Price Posted April 25, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted April 25, 2014 Rob/Gary, Whilst the drive shafts used to be modified Sierra drive shafts, I think they were changed to a revised GKN supplied part around 2002. Therefore, the part that Gary links to may not be compatible with Rob's newer shafts.
garybee
Glad you mentioned that Richard. Mine are bound to require rebuilding at some point and I would probably have bought Sierra bits.
