Lee Fowler
Tarmac rally tyres are moulded with a tread, no slicks. Lee
Willie.
If you've seen cheap rally tyres, like those Dunlops, some are remoulds and are heavy.
Roger King
I remember that we used to use hand cut slicks for tarmac back in the early 1980's. Pentti kept asking to try different tread patterns until out of frustration one of the mechanics just cut his own name around the tread. Apparently the verdict was that this was one of the better patterns tried.
myothercarsa2cv
😬 I was bored last night so was just perusing stuff, and saw these specific tarmac rally tyres. I'm no expert but surely a rally on tarmac is the same as just driving on the road or track? I was expecting them to be the same or at least similar, but they are quite different. There are some on DT that purport to be road legal too, despite looking like, as Roger said, slicks with a few cut outs!
elie boone
I think in general they are softer compound, when rain tyres where on the wear bar we used to cut the patern a mm or 2 deeper thats what you need to do when you are on a budget, i still have the cutter somewhere in the garage.
