oilyhands
I have been in dialogue with a company who make carbon brakes for the Lotus Elise ( amongst others). They may be looking to manufacture carbon disks pads and lightweight calipers for the Caterham seven and are looking for a vehicle from which they can take a measurements. There is quite a weight saving and of course it is unsprung weight. As a quick gauge, is there any interest here? Is there anyone reasonably local to Milton Keynes who would be prepared to make their car available for a short time? Oily
Neal Worth
I'll put my hand up. Not far from MK, Northampton, and the car could be made ready. Not sure if it's the ideal candidate, being a live axle xflow though. Neal.
Mankee
Is the company Freno, Dave? Lovely looking bits of kit, although likely too rich for me in terms of bang for buck. I'm interested in the outcome though. Good luck!
oilyhands
Neal, Thanks for the offer, the front would probably be applicable, but not sure about the rears, could you send me a mail please? Mankee, yes, it's Freno, they do some precision machining for me. Like you say, lovely kit. Oily
oldbutnotslow
Dave, Perhaps mine? 185bhp k Big brakes (Alcon bells and rotors) with Pagid RS14 & 15 pads Can you let me know what they will be doing with the car. Mine may not be appropriate as it is only used on track these days should they want to try out a set up on the road and I am a bit of a distance away. oldbutnotslow
Bloomin heck! If it is this company the costs are way out of my league!
oilyhands
Grant, I do think they want to sell a set to the owner of the donor car, they just need it for measurement go/no go purposes. I'll have words and maybe get them to contact you direct. Oily
oldbutnotslow
Dave Even if they give a discount its beyond what I would be willing to spend so I will happily stand back and allow someone with deeper pockets than me to have the opportunity
Markiebabes
Dave I'm local and car could be made available ? Not sure my pockets are that deep either ☹️ but would be willing to let them take measurements 😬
andy couchman
Happy to lend my car too. Live axle but discs all round and 13 inch wheels (important as lots of 7s run that size and space is at a premium - an issue they'll need to be aware of to maximise sales potential).
