MereCat
Any ideas? Been doing it a while now, high pitch , wanted to know if this might be bearing related or something that just needs some grease? Noticed more tonight as no ear plugs in when popped up road for fuel. Those TB's are blinkin loud! Cheers
Domus
Jack up, hold wheel at 12 and 6 o-clock. Any rocking shows wheel bearing needs attention. Then again could be a stone trapped between disc and caliper.
MereCat
Thanks , will try. Poss stone but had a few of those and too high a squeal but it would not be the first time I was wrong. Appreciate the reply
Looptheory
I had a similar small squeak , turned out it was the brake pad on the way out
MereCat
Thanks for the replies so far Ok so after further investigation today it would appear that I get a squeak when turning the wheel. If I go in a straight line it seems fine... Brakes look ok Any ideas?
AtWork
Hi, can't offer any help but I'm having the same trouble, so would be grateful if anyone has any ideas. Seems to worsen with load rather than steering angle, ie if accelerating while turning the noise gets worse.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted July 12, 2014 Member Share Posted July 12, 2014 Is the sound affected by applying the brakes? Quoting MereCat: Brakes look okWhat did you check? Jonathan
pugwash
In my experience bearings rumble, increasing noise with load on corners. Would suspect brakes first. Have you a smear of copper grease on the back of the pads?
AtWork
For me it's a noise on turning not on braking. Could be a stone trapped somewhere as I went through some road dressing in progress. Can't see any marks on front of disc so will remove wheel when I get a chance and have a root about.
Z3MCJez
I'd suspect worn inside pad for squeaking. But I don't have much to add over what's written above. Jez
AtWork
Got it! Small stone stuck behind the disc :o) Must've been when I passed the road dressing roadworks. Refilled the trunnions while I was on but discovered offside front has a bit if a wobble so will get bearings checked at next service. Phew!
