Boris
I normally put my car on stands over the winter but since the first job next year is to fit new tyres (which I already have) do I need to do this?
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted November 28, 2012 Area Representative Share Posted November 28, 2012 I ran the Seven on winter tyres for the first time last winter. (that leaves about 10 winters of running). A thousand miles or so (probably a few over) and they came off looking like new. Overall, I felt the grip was no better than with AO21Rs. I am unconvinced and have yet to put the Nokians back on the car. I'd stick to normal procedure, simply in case you wish to do anything to it. Myles
To be honest, I have never bothered with any winter-tyre-storage prep - I've had my Caterham for coming up to ten years and the Westie for three. I have never noticed any kind of problem related to static load come the wake-up for the following year. What I *will* try to concentrate on this year is trying to make sure the fuel system doesn't gum up again - the Blackbird engine in the Westie took hours to get going again this year as a result of blocked/stuck injectors. virden
If you do leave the car standing on its wheels, it might be prudent to pump the tyres up to 30PSI. That should stop any permanent wrinkles forming. After you have done it don't forget to leave a note on your steering wheel to remind you.
rgrigsby
Like Myles I've never done anything specific for my car over the winter, I do use it a bit over winter so just keep it as I would during the summer.

6speedmanual
Have parked various over various lengths of time, summer and winter and never had any issue with tyre distortion or flat spots. Peter
