bobt
Hi chaps, I'm after a grinder but with a difference... Basically I want something that has a flat bed with a grinding wheel 90degs perpendicular at the end. This is so that Ali and steel box/tube sections that have been cut can be ground square. Does such a piece of garage kit exist? Thanks Rob
Bricol
Similar to this here ? You'd have to provide an extended support I guess. Daft question - why not cut them square in the first place? Even my abused chop saw manages to do that pretty well. Can you afford to lose any more length, and simply cut a midgen off with a new saw or abrasive chop saw? ric355
Cutting them square in the first place would seem like the best option. This can be done with a "metal cutoff saw". This is the same thing as a woodworking chop saw but obviously for metal. There are two main types I think - the type that uses a large grinder style cutting wheel which generates sparks, and the type that (I think) uses a toothed blade which does not generate sparks. Titanium7
You reall need a linisher as using aluminium on a grinder usually clogs the wheel pretty quickly. The sander is a good option as long as you use a suitable open abrasive disc.
bobt
Squaring the ends is just one job. Being able to move the work piece about on the bed to radius the ends etc will also be done.
