Dumb question of the night

Just got round to opening my hood bag. It's got a velcro loop each end which is clearly there to strap it to the roll cage.

 

But there were also a couple of separate, loose straps each 125 x 30mm or so, and each with velcro covering half of each side. They came in their own "compartment" within the poly bag & look like they're intended to loop round to velcro to themselves in the same way the pre-fitted loops do.

 

But there's nothing on the hood bag to attach them to. What are they for?

Are they to tie up the rolled hood before inserting it in the hood bag ?

 

Ditch the full hood and buy a half hood !

They're nowhere near long enough for that - good thought though.

That sounds plausible if the verticals are further apart on an SV - I have a standard CC Track-day rollbar.

No it is not that. I have the same velcro "extender" straps which came fitted to the hood bag stitched straps to effectively make the loop around the roll bar uprights them bigger (if that makes sense). I ended up removing them as they were not needed for the width of a CSR. I put them away figuring I would work out a use for them one day.

I had them for my SV sized hood, but never used them. I've now lost at least one, so I'll no doubt find that they are critical for something soon enough...

Never found a use for them, but assumed they were for use with a rollcage. I think the hood is/was made to fit over one of the cages.
