bobt
Hi, Did any of you chaps that have fitted lowered floors bother with the spreader plates? Don't the runners the seat is mounted on do that job already? Cheers Rob
Adrian Williams
They're not spreader plates Rob they're spacers. Use them with the adjustable runners (which are wider than the non-slidding box sections) to bring the edge of the runner away from the slopping sides of the floor. If you're using the non-adjustable box sections they're surplus to requirements. Adrian
bobt
Hmmm I still can't picture what you mean in relation to the seat runners Rob
Bricol
If you don't use the spacers, with the seat in the right place, the outer edges of the runners will rest against the angled sides of the lowered floor panel, not on the floor properly. Sit the spacers between the seat and the floor, and the seat will be just nicely clear of the angles sides, as it now sits higher up the side of the triangle, sort of thing. Midlifecrisis2001
I like the idea of lowering the floor so that I can sit lower in the car, but then if I have to raise it again will gain much at all...????
Adrian Williams
Bri explained it so much better than I did. 😶🌫️ The lowered floor gives you something like 40 -50mm extra space and the spacer only loses 3mm or something so the net gain is still substantial.
