Rampmonkey
Right then, time to tap into experience and expertise! I'm currently running a 1999 Sprint with a Vauxhall 1.6 (100 bhp), through a Sierra Type 9 gear box to a Marina/Ital rear axle.  I fancy a little new year project stuffing a few more bhp under the bonnet! (circa 200 bhp will suffice!) 🤔 The question is, which engine will be the best way forward and what mods will I need to make to the car? Here's eagerly awaiting the community response! rj
You don't want to put 200BHP through an Ital axle!
CaterBram
do a search on the ital axle, it's been done but not recommended to go above 160 BHP. Most who do go over 160 BHP swap to a engish or a brad new axle. Q469 WET, 1990 1690 Xflow Long Cockpit in Ali except for the red bits. But hopefully a Class 2 150 ish BHP Zetec in 2011. With a Dual Drive :-)CaterBram on Facebook

Rampmonkey
Ok, starting to think the axel is going..... Â Axel ideas?
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted September 19, 2010 Area Representative Share Posted September 19, 2010 Axle ideas : Only two options for a live axle car : Ford English axle that can handle upto 250 bhp and requires very minimal modicifation to the tunnel (on the driver's side) as the nose is slightly offset. Otherwise SPC do a special custom made item but its an expensive option  Back in a BEC! - but done alright in Class 1...
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted September 19, 2010 Area Representative Share Posted September 19, 2010 You could go towards a BEC option though.... and rather than add masses more power, go for lightness with something like a fireblade or R1 engine. Sequential box as standard, an 8v VX car would be a perfect donor.... ----- Back in a BEC! - but done alright in Class 1...

Badger Bill
Nick! Good lad! At last, you are advocating the irrepressible spread of the mighty BEC. Sod this CEC stuff for a lark, get yourself a nice R1 donk and spend the rest of your 7'ing days sideways with a big grin on your mush! BB
