Old Git
I see these switches discussed from time to time - how useful are they? Surely the thermostatic switch should keep the engine from overheating? Tim N
Graham Sewell
My thermostatic switch failed one hot summers evening on the way back from a "classics in the park" type concert - just as I got caught in traffic. The temp went into the red and the only way to cool the engine was to put the heater on full blast. So with an outside temp >25'C and the heater going, we were toast...... Now I find that I use the manual switch any time I get into traffic. Cheers, Graham ------ Low tech luddite - xflow and proud!
alextangent
Very useful! The thermostat opens at 74 deg, which is much cooler than the standard Ford thermostat. But the top thermostat switch is (I think) a bog standard Ford part, and it doesn't turn the fan on until the temp is sitting at 85+ or even higher. By which point my aging xflow is gasping, and chucking water out into the overflow bottle. Alex McDonald Loud, louder, loudest...
thinfourth
95% of the time utterly useless 5% utterly indispensable and maybe cheaper then a new engine
