Jon Crofts Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 When my car was at CC for a 3000 mile service a few months ago it was noted that there was some play in the watts linkage, nothing serious just an advisory. The car has done 9000 miles with a lot of track use so I guess that inevitably the suspension parts will wear out faster, ho hum such is life in the fast lane. Having searched in this forum I can't find an awful lot relating to the Watts linkage, so my wild stab in the dark would lead me to deduce that the failure point to attack first might be the rose jointed rod ends? Any tips or pointers most welcome. Many thanks Jon Aztec Orange (not for long) R300 Superlight
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Yes - grab the radius arms and rattle them up/down to identify play in rod end bearings. CC rod end bearings quite expensive ! My bearing distributor pal can source NMB originals much cheaper. Blatmail me if I can help. You just need to check the size - possibly 5/16" x 1/4" ?
Jon Crofts Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 Thanks. Should have the car back from TSK early next week so will check sizes & do some rattling, will BM you if I need any. Aztec Orange (not for long) R300 Superlight
