Panasonic Viera TH42PX80B Plasma Television – Brand new with 5 year warranty

I acquired one of these from Empire Direct on Saturday, it’s a fantastic piece of equipment and I am very impressed with the picture quality and overall performance, this set comes out very well in all consumer reviews. I have spent a considerable amount of time researching it to make sure I got the right one!

Unfortunately the element I didn’t include in my calculations was that SWMBO doesn’t want a screen that big and can we please send it back!

Empire direct are fine with that, but want to charge me 15% of the purchase price to swop as I have opened the packaging.

I thought that there may be someone out there who might be interested, The TV has been on for about eight hours and has not had the postcode or any of the guarantee documents registered yet.

The TV comes with a full five year guarantee from Panasonic (As I ordered it before 31 December)

I would be happy to cut my losses and part with it for £470.

Clearly it’s a big package, so would be suitable for pick up only. I live in Lichfield, Staffordshire.

For more info please see this link here

but please bear in mind this one comes with a 5 year Panasonic Warranty.

Or for a full specification see the Panasonic site here

Please Blatmail me if you need more info, I will need to return the TV to ED by Friday if there is no interest.

Here

Can I insist that consumers who cancel an order within the

cancellation period return the goods as new or in their

original packaging?

3.58 No. Consumers are under a duty to take reasonable care of the goods

while in their possession as discussed in paragraph 3.44. The DSRs

allow consumers to examine goods they have ordered as they would

in a shop. If that requires opening the packaging and trying out the

goods then they have not breached their duty to take reasonable

care of the goods. In these circumstances you cannot insist that

consumers return the goods as new or in their original packaging.

You may ask consumers to return goods with the original packaging,

but you cannot insist on this. In the case of goods such as earrings

that have hygiene seals, you may require consumers to exercise

reasonable care by not removing the seals when examining them.

Errm, assuming you got it by mail order, that is!

Thanks for that !

In fact I picked up the TV from one of their outlets in Derby, and have used the tv for eight hours, which can be tracked by the internal gubbins if they can be bothered, so a little bit diferent from examining them in the shop. so I guess their argument would be that the goods are no longer new... just keen to move on to a smaller set now ☹️

Damn!

Bought exactly this TV just before Christmas for £600 from Currys and thought it a bargain. Of all the reasonable money 42" Plasmas I looked at, it was the best with a cracking picture on Freeview and DVD's.

And you are only 15 miles away....Such is life.....

Good luck with the sale.

Dave,

A friend is looking for a 42" Plasma. The one he is keenest on is a Panasonic but he cannot remember the product code. He is checking the spec now, he is interested.

Dave,

Bugg*r - I was just about to offer you a p/ex against the Exige 😬

Glad you managed to get rid of your TV but I think in the future, you will wish you had kept it rather than downsizing... even TC thinks we should have gone for the 60" Panasonic instead of the 50" we settled with!

Cheers

Nick
