Neil_K
I'm trying to buy a 5.5mm Hex key, but as a socket bit to go into a 1/4" or 1/2" drive ratchet. It's driving me nuts! I can find every size but. Can anyone think or a supplier that might make one? 2 hours of internet trawling has drawn a blank. Looking for one of these here but in 5.5mm. Where am I? rj
Excuse me for asking, but what is it for? 5.5mm is not exactly a common size! Wouldn't some imperial size do it?
mav
Buy a 5.5mm allen key and cut it down and fit to the relevant socket, with a blod of weld if required
rj
7/32" = 5.55625mm
Graham Perry
I have never understood why 5.5 is one of the most used sizes. You wouln't think it would be used for much at all, but it often seems to be needed
CageyH
One I use most at work is 1.27mm 😳 Only dead fish go with the flow....!
F355GTS
Neil here or here it is 3/8 though so you'll need an adapter for 1/2 or 1/4 Teng do do a 1/4 one but only as apart of a £45 set Mark
Neil_K
Thanks Mark, that's the one I found but don't need the rest of the set. The tightening bolt at the top of my steering column (where it enters into the engine bay) is a 5.5mm hex. Plus I need to give it some welly which is why I didn't want to use a standard allen key. Mav, that was my back-up plan if all else failed. Think I might look for a 3/8 adapter. Where am I?
TomB
I managed to find a 7/32 hex socket on a half inch drive. Try a decent tool supplier who can order it in.
