Exchange VX Alternator companies?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I've finally got around to looking at my alternator and figure I need to replace/renew it due to wear. I see Caterham stock a new one for £110 but has anyone used a company for exchange units? If so can I have the details and price please.

Car is an 8v VX classic

Thanks. *thumbup*

Hi, I think I have a "8V" alternator sitting on the shelf - it came as part of a 16V kit from a race car, you are most welcome to it, even if its just to use as an exchange.

I suspect I need to drop Saab off at Abbotts over the next week or so, would it be helpful to drop it off there?

Thanks for all the suggestions and to Anthony for the actual alternator.

I've picked up one from a Lucas service agent today for £56 so will let you know if it fits and the part number. Anthony, I'll blatmail you if I take you up on your kind offer.

Just to update the thread for anyone else.

The alternator is now fitted and works a treat. Its a 55AH as per the one that came of my car compared to the 45AH listed on the Caterham site.

A Hella, Part No. CA305IR. £55 from any Lucas Service Agent. I went to Ipswich 01473 215931.

Thanks for your replies.
