How do I undo the rear ARB nuts when the bolt just revolves in the ball joint?

Anyone any clues? It's driving me up the wall.

On mine, the bit with the rubber boot around it pushes aside and then you can get a spanner around it, basically the ball joint bit has a flat on it. You then hold it with a thin spanner and then undo the nut.

Isn't there a flat on the stem of the ball ?

If not' extract the thin wire pin (unclip it radially and pull it out verticaly) and then pull the housing away from the ball. You can then hold the ball and undo the nut.

there is a 12mm flat behind the rubber bit on the ball.

Yup - 12mm spanner (not too thick) is what you need

it's 7/16" which depending on how worn your spanner is will be 11mm or 12mm

The only thin spanner that I could find that would fit the ARB ball joint was in my bicycle puncture repair kit that I bought from Halfords. It's made from flat steel with lots with various open ended spanners punched in it.
