Molecular--Bob
Hi all I need to remove my old compressed bonnet foam to fit new. How do you do it?
Fyldeflier 1
Carefully! 😬 I used a very sharp modelling knife and removed the residue rubber and adhesive with a course rag and neat petrol,it took a while but the results were o.k Cheers John
rj
If the bonnet is not painted I'd use Würth's brake cleaner. It can remove anything sticky!
Molecular--Bob
So, a mixture of bravery and strong chemicals. Excellent
pburt
Did mine last weekend. Peeled off as much as possible (didn't find the need to use a knife) then cleaned off the residue backing/glue with Halfords "Surface Cleaner" (sold alongside paints, primers etc). Worked a treat and no danger/damage to paintwork. Peter Burt
simonbell
We use stuff at work called Label Ease or something like that. It is designed to remove lables from furniture etc. You spray it on, let it sit for a minute and then the label and adhesive just peels off in one go, a quick wipe with a damp cloth and its clean. I don't know if it is safe on paintwork as I've never tried it for anything car related. Stationary M25 Traveller
Best place to get new foam ?? Mine is a bit flat. ****************** And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking... And racing around to come up behind you again. photos
Molecular--Bob
I got mine from Redline, but it arrived in a caterham bag so assume both have them. Not expensive, but hasn't cured my bonnet resonance. Any ideas?
MikeK
I peeled mine off, but not carefuly. It took the paint with it. MikeK
