Normans_Ghost
Pudding, if you have an adjustable platform you can raise the ride height but this should be done on a "flat floor" set up. Your best bet is to get along to your nearest area meeting and the chaps there will help. ps, you can probably get some 15" wheels in the wanted section and sell your 13" in the for sale section Norman Verona, 1989 BDR 220bhp, Reg: B16BDR, Mem No 2166, the full story here You and your seven to The French Blatting Company Limited
sjmmarsh
Pudding If you go for bigger wheels, you may need to change the front cycle wings (and stays) as they come in 15/16" or 13/14" sizes to allow extra clearance. I have 16" wheels for road and 13" for trackdays. The 13" lower the car by about 2cm. Steve
David Brown
Pudding, Spoke to you and your Dad at some length at Knockhill last month ( I lived 2 doors down from his old house in Cambuslang, you should have brought the 7). As has been said it is easy with adjustable platforms but assume you don't have these or you wouldn't be asking. Should be easy to pick up a set of 15" (or 16") in the For Sale section. Can't you modify the drive with a wooden ramp or something? Regards, David
shn7
Have you actually measured the clearance between the ground and the bottom of the sump? CC recommend 75mm with the car loaded with 2 people. It could be your car has been setup much lower than this. It may be better as has been said to make some sort of temp mod to the driveway rather than mess with the ride heights which could upset the handling. If you do change the ride height remember that the rear should be 15mm higher than the front otherwise you can do nasty things to the handling. Search the archives for details on where/how to measure. Steve. Not forgetting Percy the Polar Bear
rgrigsby
I'd definetly look at the ride height as it is at the moment and then look for a set of adjustable platforms as a second option. Replacing the dampers is a long way down the list to fix ride height questions. Rob G www.SpeedySeven.com
David Lynch
Before going the Adjustable damper route take a look at the damper bodies and if lucky you may find there are quite a few grooves for the spring platforms. Given loan of coil spring clamps (essential for safety) and clip pliers you can raise the whole car for zero outlay and still get the 15mm rake On my Se7en the issue is the old long primary 4-1 exhaust not the car/sump but that's too good to give up 1.4K SS 😬 here 'You've got be in it to lose it !' David Brown
Should have said look at tyre size - changing from 55 aspect to AO21's on 70 aspect will give you a fair lift ( do a search on here for tables to compare diameters) also very good tyres at circa £35 ea and very worth doing if on Michelin pileups or equivalent. Dartmoor7
As David says, it is the tyre size not the wheel size you should look at. It is perfectly possible to get the same ride height on 13" wheels as 16" wheels just by fitting the tyre size originally specified by Caterham (185/70x13).
