  2. It's mostly the map, so to cure it completely you'll need to remap it. Caterham South told me recently that the standard, more powerful Sigma map is now to 140 (rather than 150) but the overall drivability is much improved despite the slight peak power drop. Apparently makes it much easier to drive over speed bumps and neogotiate busy roundabouts!
  3. My view on this when 'managing' the spec creep during my purchase was that although I thought the 150 I drove was great, there was just 'something' that prompted me to bankrupt myself with a 175. More rationally, I think the underlying reasons were really:

    - I'm quite a big bloke so, along with the extra SV-ness, and the fact that car will be often 2up it has quite a lot of mass to shift.

    - It'll be mostly road use until I can stump up enough cash to start doing the Sprint Champs so the 'pootling about driving it like a diesel' aspect of the Duratecs appeals.

    - Upgradeitis is easier for when the cash for the Sprints arrives (and subsequently disappears...).

  4. Morning,

My drivers side headlight points down compared to the passenger side, so even though I can get them aligned perfectly left-right, the beam centre of the dodgy one is further down the wall than the correct one (about 25cm at 2m) and lights up a nice spot on the road about 5m in front of the nose!

On investigation of the headlight assembly, it seems that the bowl leans forward (obviously) so the gap between the bottom of the bowl and the top of the indicator cone is only a few mm whereas on the correct headlight it's about 15mm. If I slacken off the nut I can get the bowl in the correct position, but as soon as I tighten everything up it reverts to the 'down' position. If I prop it up in the correct position I can set the lights up pretty much fine.

    What's the trick?!?!

  5. My first two spots, both on Ringinglow Rd., since getting involved in this Seven malarkey! I was in the white/blue car with a different passenger each time 😬, did the Snake/Bamford loop once in each direction today, lovely!

Green/Yellow - just before Bents Green School, you were just coming into Sheffield as I was leaving for the clockwise loop.

Red (Pete?) - in the dips just by Ringinglow village, this time I was coming back in from the anti-clockwise loop as you were going out.

    *wavey*

  6. Interesting stuff. At my work, we've done quite a lot of work for various OEMs about particles in oil, mainly soot, and I can't remember the OEMs being worried about anything other than large/mid-size diesels. I've also seen a lot of technical presentations on particles in oil over the years and again can only recall diesels being of primary interest.

I'd be interested to see the results of your analysis.
