  1. I have recently fitted some new 8" 8 spoke anthracite wheels to my car replacing the original 6" minilites. Wheels seemed to fit fine with no obvious problems.

Tried to move the car today for the first time since fitting and ther was a nasty graunching sound. At first I thought it was the dedion ears and ground these back to clear but further investiagtion revealed that the drop link from the ARB is rubbing against the inside corner of the rim.

I can't see an obvious way to sort it without some major changes. Has anyone come across this before and if so how did you solve it?

  2. I've now got the prices and details. Orders need to be in sets of 4 and include either delivery to a UK business address (read permanently manned) or fitting/balancing in Middlebrough.

185/60/R13 in either GG or SG compound £220 for a set of 4

205/60/R13 in either GG or SG compound £260 for a set of 4

    Mixed set £240

    185/60/R14 £236 per set

    195/50/R15 £240 per set

All prices are valid until the end of January 2008.

Don't know anyone can get better prices but they seem comparable to anything I've seen so far. I will put a post up in Chitchat later today and people can choose to follow up if they want to.

Contact will be directly with the supplier.

  3. I will have prices before the end of today and we can then compare with what others can get and see if we want to go ahead. The plan is that people would deal direct with the supplier. The price we get will be based on a set of 4 and include either fitting and balancing or delivery to any UK business address.

  4. I'm still waiting for the detail but he is talking somewhere around £60 a corner for the tyres. Delivery would be extra. He has suggested having the same price for 185's and 205's to make life simpler. As soon as I have got some more detail I will post a separate thread in Chitchat. As well as a bulk buy I am checking whether we can get an evergreen L7C discount arranged.

Do you think there would there be any demand for any size other than 13 inch?

  5. I guess the other obvious initial question to ask is whether it has suffered any accident damage.

These cars really need viewing on an individual basis and it would be wise to take up the suggestion of a visit with an experienced club member. There are many cars that were home built, used for track days with no official service history that have been built and cared for immaculately so don't discount them.

    Good luck withy your search.

  6. Oh no not more tyre questions

I have recently bought some 6" and 8" - 8 spoke anthracite rims for my car as part of my upgrade plans. Initial thoughts were to go for Toyo 888 tyres but I have just looked at the Toyo web site and according to the chart they do not do a 13" tyre that fits an 8" rim.

Is this right? I thought there were a lot of club members that had 888's on 13" rims.

  7. I have just bough a set of 4 brand new 13" 8 spoke anthracite wheels from Julian Thompson. One of the 6" wheels received a small chip in transit on the rim and Julian has had this sealed by "Chips Away". When a tyre is fitted it will be hardly visible but I am in two minds whether to sell this and buy a new replacement.

If you are interested I would be looking for around £75 for it.

  8. I currently have a standard 4:1 competition exhaust fitted to my Superlight (4:1 outside the body) and have just bought a Techcraft Motorsport silencer.

Initially I was going to do a straight box swap but as I would need to get a new transition piece made up to fit it wondered whether I should take the opportunity to go to a 4:2:1 system. If I do this are the existing standard primaries OK or should I be getting a completely new section made from the engine to the box?
