  2. Ford de dion fitment? if so i will have them please RRS
  3. Hi Alan could be interested what size are the tires. I have just put 185/50/R14 on my set and had to lift the car 26 mm on each corner to get the ground clearance back. On 13" they will have to be 60?
  4. Finmac are the brake discs and calipers still for sale? RRS
  5. Christ *eek* i must not be trying my yoko 352's are coming up to 26000 miles and i do push them but i still have a couple of mm on them yet. My 15" 32's soft compound only lasted 3000 miles till they were not road leagal but they are a nice slick for the track now. Goes away muttering must try harder must try harder RRS
  6. Ok guys as requested and well called RJ. Its the ignition relay dropping out due to the coils getting hot from a short. Hence as it heats it losses magnatism and drops out taking everything off with it except the hazards. 80 quid for the relay 70 quid for the diagnostics and a couple of hours labour for the replacement. So all in all not to bad. Bet i could find the relay for 20 quid somewhere. Any way thats one for the memory banks on VW TDi,s This sort of makes sense as it was running too well whan it was on Mystery solved and well done BC RRS
  7. Nigel mines a 1989 super sprint chasis with de dion back end and has a 2 l zetec E with siera box on it and the cross braces at sump level and it all goes in and out quite nicely. also has the top braces on in the engine bay on the exhaust and carb side. So they do fit. I had on old A1 sump fitted by james whiting who did the conversion in 1996 before i became the owner of the car originally it had a cross flow. Now got a raceline sump after knocking a hole in mine best bit of kit i have bought not cheap but brilliant. Good luck Oh and by the way i hate throttle bodies so i have twin 45 DCOE's and love the inlet valve slap and the ocassional flash of blue from them when i realy give it some welly enjoy RRS Just spotted the pics yes its tight on the bottom pully. Set it all up lock of the cams and take the bely an pully off pleanty of room then. 4 bolts for rad out and put the timing belt on in the car. Quite often change it that way no probs and it does make it a lot easier to get in and out. Edited by - Rust Red Seven on 8 May 2013 11:46:12
  8. If it were injector problems it would not run like it does when its on and as RJ says the dash would not go out. I think its electrical could be immobaliser unit or ECU or something behind the dash. Any way we wait and see what VW say it is and brace for a large bill. Thanks for the suggestions guys and as soon as i know what the prognoses is i will let you know. The suspence is killing me RRS
  9. Deaf from the exhaust who said that, who said that, Who Who *smokin* My twin 45 DCOE's make almost as much noise ase the exhaust on the back of the 2 l Zetec 😬 😬 😬 RRS
  10. RJ thanks for the offer of help but i am in Abu Dhabi UAE and the car is in the UK and is booked into VW for Wednesday. It might take 3 stops and starts to get there but unfortunately thats where its going to end up. I was trying to get a handel on it before it goes in. I can send the engine number across as the diagrams are always usefull. Thanks RRS
  11. RJ you could be right a component that is faulty heating up and shutting it all down then it cools off and starts again. How the hel do you find it without the VW diagnostics? RRS
  12. Thanks for the suggestions guys get in the car coldput the key in the ignition all lights up normal goes through its diagnosticsheater coils go outturn the key away it goes. I can then go and do 70 up the M25 or let it sit on the drive in tick over at 8 to 10 minutes it stops just like the battery is disconnected, every thin totally dead. when running battery is chargin at 14 to 14.5 volts when off battery is holding 12.5 volts. weather warmed up or cold can still hold the top hose by hand. give it 3 to 5 minutes with the ignition still switched on of off witht he key out the dash board lights up as if nothing has happened no warning lights turn the key and away it goes again for another 8 to 10 minutes then stops with everything off. sit for 4-5 mins and away it goes again. Very strange fault!!!! No fuses on top of the battery but ontop of the ECU carrier checked all them and the relays in there Could be dash fault or ECU fault or imobaliser fault. All earths checked and crancking wonderfully when not in shutdown mode. Might be temperature related but on first run from cold top hose only gets to 30 to 40 c when doing it in tick over. if i blast it down the 25 in 8 mins it hits 80c then on second run gts to 90c running tempbut it keeps doing it. Very perplexing suppose i am going to have to get VW involved to run the diagnostice to find out exactly what is the problem. the car is only 5 years old!!!! thanks for the advice any other views most welcomed as this is abit of a head scratcher. RRS
  13. OK guys its a 2 l TDI runs realy smooth no mechanical problems dives well emissions all ok etc etc. Runs for 8-10 mins eith at 70 up the moterway of ideling on the drive then shuts down engine stops dash goes blank nothing. Checked battery all charged and being charged. Wait with ignition turned on or off about 3-5 minutes dash comes back on turn key and away it goes againas if nothing has happened. Runs for 8-10 minuted and does exactly the same thing again. Tried all the connectors fuses and relays. We reckon its a error stack overflow in one of the ECU registers and it shuts down to clear then corrects itself. Anyone else got any ideas. No warning lights come up on the dash when it stops or restarts any clue most appreciated. Regards RRS
