  1. Hi The 'green' one as shown in the earlier post is available for sale. If you are interested i can send some more pics Regards
  2. Hi I have one for sale. I bought it secondhand a few years ago and have had it fitted on my 1998 SLR. Its currently off the car. Its painted in kawasaki green and was this color when i bought it , and it has additional mirrors, headrest and an MSA/FIA approved sticker. It has high front to back side bars unlike the one on the Caterham site Looking for £400. If its not for you then i may decide to try and sell it with my SLR which will be on sale in about a week I can post some photos if i can work out how to include them or else i can send some. Regards
  3. thanks for the various offers.. Am now sorted out regards
  4. Hi. I have a 1998 K-series SLR and it has a non-cat 4-2-1 exhaust. For the last few years I have really struggled to get it through the MOT, I did have a second hand cat which I was told at the last Mot was next to useless. So I am looking for a cat that will hopefully fit onto the current SLR system and hep get me through the mot. regards Rob
  5. The odometer and trip meter stopped incrementing on my analogue speedo recently, although the speedo still works fine. I tried a few resets of the trip meter but no joy. So removed the speedo from the car and checked it out further and a bit of WD40 just to make sure all free. All looked ok and cogs would still rotate manually. So then I used a squared off nail and electric drill and this worked fine - speedo, trip meter and odometer all working and incrementing fine. So I put it back in the car and...... speedo works, odometer and trip meter still not incrementing. So is the cable broken ? - maybe the squared off end is not working, but if so how is the speedo still recording the speed ? thanks in advance

    MOT pass

A big thank you to Robin at Finchampstead for MOT pass on my 1998 SLR. As the roads were mostly flooded and rear tyres were close to limit, my early morning drive was fairly sedate (by 7 standards). As a result the 7 failed on emissions test but was allowed a quick 10 minute blast to get it hot…this was very interesting as roads were still very wet but it did the trick and car passed its mot. And also thanks to ALS tyres (Wargrave, Bracknell) for fitting my two new AO48s rears. But…I think the car needs a further check on mapping and possible Emerald re-map.. Will checkout my options
  7. just to add…in case my first post wasn't clear I would be interested in any wheels of same size - don't have to be the split rim SLR alloys
  8. I know these are a bit rare but am after a set of rear wheels as spares for my 98 SLR. Not sure of exact size (I think they are 8.5 * 13) as the tyres are 205*60*r13. Would like to match current ones if possible - they are black 5 spoke centres with rolled rim. cheers
  9. so is this still available ? and if so is there any chance of it fitting a 1998 SLR (imperial chassis - I guess) regards Rob
  10. hi, also interested in rear arches if still available. do you know radius or diameter of arch ?
  11. SLR passed MOT today at Finchampstead - Excellent service...Mr Robin Day was the most helpful MOT tester I've come across...and got discount. thanks for the recommendation.
  12. thanks guys, will give Finchamstead a call cheers
  13. Hi, my mot is due in next 3 weeks on my 98 SLR. It has emerald ecu and I am expecting that it will be struggling to pass on emissions. It has a cat fitted but not sure of its effectiveness. I am prepared to sit at mot testing station with my laptop and attempt to adjust to get emissions right and was wondering if anyone else knows of an mot station in teha tea that might be happy to let me do that ? regards Rob
  14. hi, will this fit a 1998 SLR.. I assume it will ?
  15. Hi, I have a 1998 superlight R. Do you know if this cage will fit ? I assume mine is imperial chassis ? Rob
  16. thanks guys, so as I thought really, obviously needs to be stripped and checked. Don't think I've the time to start this myself.. so next question - Car is in North Hampshire, so any recommendations as to who to take it to/call to discuss strip and rebuild ? prefer to be somewhere in south. cheers Rob
  17. Hi, Recently did a trackday in my 1998 SLR...great day until last session (as always)..Had checked oil twice during day and all looking good (dry sumped). Then into last corner, noticed oil pressure dropped, possible rattle noise from somewhere in engine bay and stalled. Cruised about 100 metres into pits. Temperature was a bit higher than normal. Looked around engine bay, no visible signs of any damage, no oil or broken bits.. Tried to start car..bad rattle/mechanical noise. Water temp was v. hot. (gauge higher than normal). Towed car home and took a look day later.. Thought I'd try and start it..bit concerned as this could do more damage..but thought not too much to lose. Engine started fine, good oil pressure, but I'm paranoid and think the engine might sound a bit clunky/rattly. Not left it running for more than 20 seconds. So..did something like oil pump, water pump, alternator get too hot and seize...only to 'free up' after engine is cooled down or could engine itself sieze only to free up once cooler ? If so what damage may be done ? the fact that car runs means it isn't totally siezed which is what I thought was the case on the track. Any ideas ?...Thought about draining oil to see what state it might be in...any metal etc.... worried about running engine too long in case it really is broken..I guess the only way to be safe is to strip it down ? regards Rob
  18. Compression test gave the following - 185,182 ,185,183 for cyls 1,2,3,4, so I assume all is ok there ? Took off carb, cleaned jets, cleaned plug, took of dizzy cap , and ensured all connections were ok, reassembled.....and...... it now seems ok... When I get chance , I'll retest mixtures with colortune ... cheers Rob
  19. Once I get hold of a compression tester , I'll do the test and post the results. Rob
  20. Any ideas on the following would be appreciated - Attempted to set up carbs (twin weber 40's) on 1700 Xflow. Used a synchrometer to get carbs balanced, and used colortune on numbers 1,2 and 3 to get idle mixture set correctly... so far so good. No 4 cylinder will not setup. Colortune shows no change in color, even with the idle mixture screw completely in, the colortune still shows bright yellow. I have determined that no 4 cylinder is not even igniting (there is a spark) but even without the plug lead connected there is no noticeable difference in idle speed (unlike for each of the other 3 cylinders). Also , if I obstruct the air flow (place hand over air trumpet) there is no change in engine note and my hand gets extremely wet with fuel. I assume this means that fuel /air mixture is reaching the carb (but I'm not sure through which jet). If I block each of the trumpets for cylinders 1,2 or 3 then the engine revs die, as would be expected. So definetely something amiss with no 4 but I can't see what it may be. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers Rob
  21. Similar method - Put in new bushes and compress with nut and bolt until just tight enough to slide up into the bracket. Once 'caught' at the top edge remove nut and bolt and then force frame (and bushes) into final position. A small 'G clamp' will also work to get the bushes compressed. No washer on my 94 live axle. Rob
  22. I assume it is 45 deg from the centre line of the exhaust outlet ? If so for a side exit exhaust where do they hold the meter ? Rob
  23. You can purchase a good meter from Maplins (start at about £50). Demon Thieves also do a couple, one of which is more expensive. Anyone doing Easytrack Airfield days (6th July is my next one), and need a noise test, come and find me...(Green, 1700 modified Xflow ...vloud) Rob
  24. I have a complete 4-2-1 rear exit exhaust which was originally on a crossflow. Has done less than 1500 miles. Rob
