Added a full litre of Shell Battery Water to battery to cover plates. Now fully charged and installed on car. Bought from a local motor factor at £65+VAT (£15+VAT less at Millwood & ready to install) but saved me 60+ miles of motoring to collect.

I've just bought a new Banner battery which was supplied with a seperate container of battery acid. This had no instructions with it and was insufficent to cover the plates. Do I now use battery top up water to cover the plates before initial charging 🤔 Advice gratefully received. Edited by - sumo on 1 Apr 2008 19:47:50

That was me returning from the Epynt stage of Wales Rally GB. Loeb, Gronholm and Hirvonen were all pretty awesome. The run down there Chipping Norton to Epynt was accomplished (hood down) in 2 hours arriving 08h30. The return wasn't quite as quick or pleasant but Jill Judd's half hood did the business. I always enjoy the B road from Abergavenny to Ross via Skenfrith though I did notice your L7GB window sticker, but didn't want to get too close as I hardly know you ❗ 😬

19 year old daughter is looking to graduate from her first car (N reg Polo 1.3) to younger VW Golf, preferably turbodiesel, not petrol GTi as insurance too expensive even with 2 years NCB. She bought her first car 100% and likewise this one, so budget is £5000 max.

Thanks folks ❗ Checked hoses and found signs of leakage when hot from o/s front top hose. Got 3/4 turn on jubilee clip and leakage seems to have stopped. Warm weather has brought on the dreaded K series click from the starter motor, so have wrapped all 4 ex pipes in cladding in hope of keeping starter motor a bit cooler, pending fitment of starter relay as suggested in LF article a while back. I'll continue to monitor oil situation, but am tempted to get rid of sump foam altogether as I only use car for touring, no track work. No budget at present for dry sumping. Any pertinent advice appreciated. Thanks to all.

Oil stains on head gasket (front two cylinders only). No sign of emulsifying oil on filler cap, but coolant in expansion tank feels oily. I fear the worst. Am I correct or are fears misplaced ? Diagnosis over internet difficult / impossible but advice appreciated.

Yes indeed ! 'Twas I. Thanks for posting. BTW which 50 limits are you referring to ? the newly introduced ones between Chipping Norton and Stow on the Wold or the one between Woodstock and Enstone / Lidstone which was introduced after several fatals on this road before the M40 opened ? The former is only ever enforced from the layby 400 metres after you leave the 40 limit. The latter has a Scamera van parking spot on the A44 at the junction with the B4027, usually set up to catch southbound commuter traffic. The other Scamera van parking spot is at the junction of the A361 and B4026 as you leave Chipping Norton about 400 metres NW of Jeremy Clarkson's house.

Three or four sevens in convoy. Was busy in garden and heard you from about 2 miles away. Nothing antisocial, just a nice familiar sound . Never did get out in mine this weekend ☹️

Oh happy days ! I had a 2.0 Exclusive Coupe until a couple of years ago - had to sell to make garage space for the 7 - very reluctant sale of a car that gave me a lot of fun at minimal cost. Very difficult to get front wings and door skins for Mantas now, otherwise parts OK and cheap.
