  1. I'll pass in that case. I think it would be cheaper to buy a new garage (Good to see you yesterday evening.) Peter
  2. I bought 4 traditional snapper traps a la Tom & Jerry today and some poison to go with the other poison baited traps and one humane multi-mouse trap already in the garage. Clearing the garage out on Saturday... Peter (Gary - sorry for the thread digression )
  3. Gary Price? SWMBO has a Canon 550D, but the money might be better spent on 7 upgrades... Peter
  4. Back to Black applied with a nail brush - 10-15 mins work at most. The gloss effect disappears after a while to leave a clean cover. Peter
  5. RR Phantom convertible in shiny black - reg: 0550 parked on the south side of Vincent Sq London. It had a certain presence 😶‍🌫️ Peter Edited by - prangerman on 16 Jan 2012 22:17:05
  6. we went blatting round the lanes while he experimented with bits of card and tape It makes you proud to be British and recalls the approach of British invention, innovation and development during WWII -"Second best tomorrow" which proved a rather more pragmatic and successful approach than that adopted by our enemies. Peter (still enjoying his RiF carbin aero )
  7. Lotus Severn Club Blimey, when did the Management Team slip that name change past us? Peter
  8. 60163 belching smoke in Victoria Station this morning. Chuff chuff Sulphur fumes - aaaaaaahhhhh - set me up for the day after a full English in a local transport cafe. 😬 Peter
  9. 3 different maps for different types of driving Lech, Codger,Maldonado? Peter 😬
  10. Guys Sssssssh. Don't say anything to Tom but we're missing a trick here. He'll need someone to hold the starter motor, someone to do the spannering and someone to hold the torch. If we can get him to send 3 airline tickets...that's the Xmas shopping trip to the States sorted Peter
  11. Too late Richard, much too late. 😬 😬 Peter
  12. Sorted thanks to some fabrication by Richard Young and a condemned Rover 75 . (Just don't take him any chocolate Hobnobs. He won't open them... 😬) Peter
  13. Today - 7x 7s at one point or another with Ade - new owner Mike D Peter Burt Simon - new owner. (Simon, you will have to tell your wife at some point that you have bought a 7) Chris Peter
  14. Chris/Ian Thanks - I see a plan emerging. It seems the part itself may no longer be available having trawled the net and phoned several MG/LR/Rover specialist parts suppliers. May look at the breakers route too. Peter
  15. Charles Thanks. The hose looks the worse for age with some splits developing. I would prefer a complete assembly (as part of a bit by bit slow long term refurbishment ) but I confess I had not thought about simply replacing the hose, although ensuring that the hose was properly "crimped" into the fittings would concern me. Sprays of fuel onto a hot engine would test my agility through the full cage... Peter
  16. On a trailing throttle, say approaching traffic lights at red, I will often change down from 6th to 4th to 2nd matching the dwindling engine speed rather than racing up to the lights and standing on the brakes. But I also sometimes bulk change when upshifting, for example in semi urban areas where it's clear that a full on blast through the gears will quickly come to an abrupt and frustrating end with traffic ahead, lights, road furniture etc. !st,2nd,4th and 6th is a not untypical pattern. I take care to ensure that there are enough revs not to bog the engine down and I'm not aware of any untoward transmission shunt. What's the BC view of the wisdom of such bulk changing in terms of mechanical sympathy etc? Peter Peter
  17. Doug and while we're on the subject of wheels, I would make sure the nuts are torqued up properly too. Peter
  18. Thanks to Ian James and his spare sender and quick fit, the problem seems to have been sorted. Peter (much relieved)
  19. ..No, nobody here. Just a vague whiff of eau de seigneur... Peter (holding his nose)
  20. Ian Thanks. Or I could just tap the gauge glass even harder... 😬 Peter
  21. Hmmm. I was thinking that the first occasion I noticed the lower indicated temperature coincided with my first use of the heater (yes I know) since last winter. Other than that I have been no where near the cooling system. Peter
  22. R300 K Series 1800 The water temperature usually rises quickly from cold to mid point on the dial - showing 80 degrees and there it sits with the fan cutting in and out as one would expect. After a recent blat as I parked up on my driveway, I noticed the needle sitting at a little over 60 degrees, and all the way through a 60 mile blat this afternonn in mild weather it refused to rise above 60 degrees on the dial. Everything else seems fine and the car is going very well otherwise. I suspect the sender. Any thoughts? Peter Edited by - prangerman on 29 Oct 2011 22:32:14
  23. Performance driving lessons. Peter
