  1. A question for Vauxhall specialists. The car in question is a Vauxhall Senator 3ltr 24V. Same as the police used. The problem I have is that when the car has been running and up to temperature you get a starting problem. This only happens when the car has stood for about half an hour from hot. Cold start and repetitive warm starts are not problem. Vauxhall have had the car but not really tested it properly, just run a diagnostics. South London Carburettors have also had a look a while ago but the problem seems sporadic and could not get the problem to happen. This is a working vehicle and I have not had time to take off the road for any length of time to get sorted until now. When it fails to start it sounds as though it is chocked up and running on three, until it clears. It has always started eventually, but can be embarrassing being the nature of my business. Where can I take it and has anyone got any ideas.
  2. Ditto above, no change in three years.
  3. Thanks to phil waters for the pics, just spoken to Len and if you have a conversion from the old single top wish bone, I think an early live axle front you will need another type of bolting system to stop the nylon bushes from being over tightened. In other words they don't hold the top wishbone. Hope this helps anyone going down this route. Rear ARB on and no problems, great bit of kit
  4. I know in the leaflet supplied with the arb Gary mentions not to tighten the bolts to much and to use silicon as a lubricant, is the bar on the move sideways a lot then 🤔 And how loose should the bolts be 🤔
  5. So after looking at the picture what does anyone think about just countersinking the heads of the bolts into the nylon to gain an extra few mill for the nut? This rather than use longer bolts.
  6. I have the same arb just completed, although the bolts are not long enough due to the top wishbone being a conversion type. So the forward arm of the top link also bolts on behind the arb. Have got to get in touch with len or gary to see if longer bolts are available or can I trim a little off the front of the nylon blocks just enough to get the nuts onto the locking part. Has any one come across this problem and what is the fix. Also as an observation did you notice the difference in the weight from the standard bar?

    Water

Having removed the radiator and drained all the water from the engine, I need to know roughly how many litres of water the 2l zetec holds to work out antifreeze amount and is 50/50 antifreeze ideal 🤔
  8. How does it affect handling 🤔 NO NO NO NO NO. Take less kit ❗
  9. Yes thanks Angus, have a new arb, freestyle type so no problem with greased balls 😳 Just wanted to get rubbers asap so the car can go back together. Posting from Caterham not so good this time of the year so may have to collect from another supplier.

Need a pair of rubber boots for front ARB, does anyone know if these are an item from Halfords and the like or do I have o go to a Caterham supplier? If so what are they from 🤔

  14. After fitting new A frame I am wondering about torque setting the rear bolts? Is this necessary, is there a setting or do you just do as you feel happy with? ps easy twenty min job to change. Always looks worse than it is
  15. So CC phone and say A frame now in stock, two weeks early. Asked about bushes but they only supply rubber Have ordered those for now and will change later. Anyway what great service
  16. this is the older type, with two bushes, one either side, does that make a difference?
  17. Having snapped the rear section of my a frame at brands I have got a new one on order with CC. This will take three weeks. Does anyone have any views on bushes for the rear such as powerflex or should the CC ones be up to spec. Also can the front bushes be changed?

    FREE BITS

Before it goes in the bin, does anyone want a standard roll bar NOT FIA, to fit long cockpit de dion. Collect from Worcester park Surrey or the Surrey meet Thursday 20th. Also have front calipers with braided hoses and a full set of Spax. Dampers are shot but springs ok. As I said earlier its all going in the bin.
  21. Don’t miss the chance to buy this great car, as it will be advertised Thursday in all the local rags. If you know someone looking for a great fun car at a sensible price this is the one. Come and have a look and make me an offer. Owned from new with no expense spared, completely original, If I get no response from the papers it will just go to the trade, which will be a real shame. PS This is a 2L twinspark, 150BHP and only 30k on the clock. Its also faster than the equivalent GTV/spider.
  22. For sale my beautiful Proteus Red Alfa 145 Cloverleaf. R Reg 1997 30k only and nearly mint. Full service history; latest service only last week. Twin sparks don’t get any better than this, great fun to drive but always treated with care. The seven gets the thrashing! Fully loaded 6CD, Air, Alarm, Sunroof, electric’s all from new. One owner, me. New Company car forces sale. 5250.00 ono. Please help me find a good home! ☹️
  23. Further to the above postings a small update for anyone who may be interested. Due to my car being an early 1988 chassis the front location points for the lower wishbones are different from later models. This meant that wide track could not be used. Caterham supply a lower wishbone conversion so you are able to change to newer rose jointed uprights but only for standard track. So that’s where it ended up, and what a difference 300lb front springs make……. Roll on next week and the Le Sept. Pete
  24. Thats game on then............... Anguss and Tessa, you're next!
