  1. Does anyone know an easy installation for an adjustable brake balance set up? Maybe using F3 or FF bits? Paul
  2. An interesting point is that carbon fibre has a galvanic potential of +0.2 to +0.3 volts. This means that if you have any carbon fibre parts in contact with aluminium, you are likely to see severe corrosion and need to pay careful attention to insulating the parts from each other.
  3. I thought that the thread started as "cheaper ways to 300bhp". Surely turocharging is going to be cheaper than shoe-horning in a bigger engine or than building a 1000km screamer. I think that the WRC guys have done a lot of work over the past five years on eliminating turbo lag. The bottom end would probably need attention but the engine does not need to run particularly fast, so you avoid the associated costs.

    Nuts!

UNF is the same, whichever side of the Atlantic it comes from. It is probable that some of the fasteners on the car come from the US. There is an aerospace standard 'UNJF' which is slightly different - the root fillet on the male thread is controlled. This means that if you try to put a UNF nut onto a UNJF bolt, you may damage the threads. (The other way round is fine). The only time you are likely to see this thread is on aerospace fasteners - 'NAS' bolts. So if Santa Clause brings you a big bucket of NAS bolts, make sure you use K-Nuts or similar.
  5. In any critical area (suspension, brakes etc.), I would only use 12.9 fastners and would specify Unbrako.
  6. I couldn't get my 4-1 manifold in without removing some of the Studs. Last time I changed it, I had the studs shortened, much better now!
  7. They are now doing a helical cut gearset, should be a bit quieter than the straight cut. How easy is it to train a wife to use a dog box?
  8. I am considering a sequential 'box for my new seven. Has anyone got experience with the Quaife 'box? One of my concerns is that it is a dog box, but he car will mostly be used on the road. Are there any alternatives to Quaife?

    Failing nylocs?

K-Nuts are a much better solution than Nylocs. You should be able to use them about half a dozen times before they lose their locking. Try www.clarendoneng.co.uk.
  10. I'm moving abroad and am considering re-building my seven into a new LHD cassis. To make the sums work, I need to sell the old chassis - is anyone be interested? What sort of price? The chassis is painted in BRG with a yellow stripe and would be in a similar spec to a "starter kit", with, in addition, rack, exhaust primaries (k-series) and any other pieces that don't transfer across. I don't know whether the registration ® would go with the chassis or not. Any offers?
