  1. Thanks for the responses, a little disappointing to hear about the peppering of the wings, and the issue with the louvres, I was going to go with their frosted grey metallic finish, with a couple of white gloss stripes down the bonnet, but may have to rethink if it's that fragile. I spose I could always armourfend the rear wings> this may keep the matt / frozen effect finish, or re-wrap the rear wings every year! Matt
  2. I was planning to wrap my car in hexis 3000 material, and have had a look on their site and on here. A while back, someone reckoned their wrap wouldn't stick to a bare aluminium car. Is this right? Thanks, Matt
  3. When i get round to it, I may get some of these - they may be a solution for you. Thingys to make things good Bumble
  4. Hi, just taken off and am wrapping my wings. Having broken one when removing due to a rusty bolt, I've noticed that the old repeaters are no longer available, and that CC are updating to LED's. Does anyone have any pics of these new side repeaters, and are they a good fit into holes left behind by the old ones? also, When I removed the wiring, the pin has been left behind in the econoseal(?) connector, is it possible to remove this with long nosed pliers back through the unit, or should I bank on replacing all the connections? Thanks, Matt
  5. Are you happy with the results Ian? I'm trying to work out how to get mine up to Birmingham for £20 a wheel, I'm not sure there's anyone in se London/Kent who match this. anyone got a van?!?! http://www.citypowdercoating.co.uk/ Matt

Thanks Ian, once I've started, I fear I won't stop. I'll become one of the kent polishers! Matt

    rear panel

oh, and does anyone know how I can replace the Caterham badge/branding on the rear, I'm guessing it doesn't come as part of the rear panel assembly? (hint of sarcasm in voice) Bumble

    rear panel

So... to replace my rear panel isn't just £84 and a little hard graft. As I now understand, I need a sheet metal worker and a good welder to replace it!! Anyone got a rough idea how much this might be so I can start budgeting? Thanks, Bumble

    Foots Cray Lane

Hello! Just seen this. That was me just off to dartboard for a winter checkup (the car that is) all good, just a few switches needed replacing as the lights didn't work on them. Happy Christmas! Matt
  10. Argh, what a Wally, I only had to replace 2 switches but got majorly distracted and managed to leave the fia key in, have a wire touch the dash edge and blew the rhs lights fuse. Car is an 07 k series. Can I just check the following sequence is correct: When lights are dipped or full on, all amber switches and dials are illuminated, ignition only makes the functioning of each switch active. If this is the case, the only thing not illuminating is the light switch itself - which from memory should be on at some point - the question is when? As ever, any answers greatly appreciated. Matt
  11. Just replaced the banner with... a banner. It was from 2007, so has done fairly well considering. I've always had to give the car a little throttle to start it, but now, it just starts straight away So I'm thinking that this, along with all the other little gremlins on the forum which seem to sort themselves out with a few more volts, was a few well spent £. It's now on the CTEK in the garage, on 'frosty flake' setting, and will hopefully outdo it's predecessor. Replaced the day before Sossiges (London to Brighton), so had a harsh first 24 hours! 12. Hi there's also this: Linky from where I asked almost the same question. My panels need straightening before I can do anything too mirrory. Anyone know a reliable dent basher outer in kent? Matt

nice to see another local 7! Bumble
  14. Has anyone tried this on a 7 at all? The first time I saw him spray the car on the drive with little masking 😳, I had the sound turned off, on reflection, it may be best viewed that way! Matt
  15. Hi Nick, Did you ever find out what caused this? Was it plugs or leads? Guess you might not have the car anymore, just seen the date of your posting! matt
  16. Hi Dennis, I've had exactly the same issue on my ex grad roadsport, and have just had a full geometry setup carried out to convert the car to road use. Before, the set up was a balance between road and track somehow. Although I do a bit of track driving, the car was noticeably toe out, and was wearing from the inside of the 13" Toyo 888s. I haven't had a chance to use the car in anger yet, but it crtainly feels more planted and at home on the roads, and less twitchy on the motorway. I had the work carried out by Automotive Engineering, and can highly recommend their work and attention to detail if I'm allowed to on here. In retrospect, I should have had the car set up properly ages ago, hope you get yours sorted soon, Matt

    Hub washers

If you buy them individually, the big outer collar ones are £2.73, and the tiny shims are £5.45 . Despite being willing to pay a premium for premium products, I still haven't quite got over this yet.

    caliper washers

Thanks very much for checking, also the old loctited bolts holding the previous discs onto the previous hubs actually had allen heads, and a washer underneath. I've now bought standard discs and the uprated hubs. Can someone let me know if I replace these with the recommended nuts (Bolt - 3/8 x 1.1/2") whether I should use washers or not? and also cheekily a torque for them - I'm sure I saw one in a previous post but now cannot find it Thanks, Bumble
  22. Hi, sorry, hopefully a quick question; I've taken off the calipers and am changing the front wheel bearings, but have 3 washers (one small and 2 larger) per bolt, and have no memory of the order they go back in. I think it's bolt, small washer, caliper, 2 larger washers then hub. The brakes are standard - could anyone confirm please? Thanks, Bumble

    Hubs

Pics should be live now, forgot how to use Flickr! Also I meant uprated not unrated Thanks

    Hubs

Argh After a bearing failure, and having gained the confidence to look at both sides and replace stub axle and bearings, here are some pics of my hubs. Looking at them they are scratched and a little pitted. The other of them needs pressing out. Do you think I should just replace them both, or should they be ok? They are the unrated ones. Piccy 1 Piccy 2 Thanks Bumble
