  2. If the design of the LSD permits the Bellevilles to operate with their prescribed limits they are no problem...they offer uniform clamping in a easy space conscious form.

When the design allows them to go beyond this is when your start to expirience repeated premature failures as in the case of the Titan.

  3. The 'bypass' arrangement on the qed start is a small bore which will affect the ability. Of the start to react quickly.

Have you checked if this line is clear.. Especially the entry into the expansion bottle.. This is usually a very small. Bore that can often become restricted meaning the stat has to rely on conduction and convection to receive a heat source due to. It's location.. Much slower than a direct source of hot water.

Also the tee piece with the kit what are the leg sizes on it....?

Yours appears to be an aftermarket brass one teed into the bleed from the head by no 1 into the expansion bottle.. Hence both these sources are venting via the same small bore outlet.

I haven't seen inside the qed casing so I can't say if the stat operation affects this bleed as it opens as it ideally should.

A bypass system. Would normally. Engage the stat to control the flow of both hot and cold sources however due to the qed location I suspect their bypass is indeed more likely a renamed bleed.

The land rover prtversion is a full. Flow bypass set up which works very well and locates in the bottom hose maybe consider this as an alternative istr it's the light grey 82degree soft spring version I used with a 32mm tee.

    Seems the conclusion is
LSD: Drexler > TracSport > Sintered Titan > Carbon Titan

    ATB: Wavetrac > Quaiffe

in terms of both performance and price!

theres nothing to indicate the Drexler performs better than the Tracsport, cost and performance are not always linked.

  5. Both Burton Power and Caterham parts carry the OEM crank pulley bolt, and diamond washers for both the crankshaft and the camshafts too at similar prices, you will also need some Loctite 5910 sealer for the front timing cover.

You can crack the front pulley bolt with the car in gear and someone firmly on the foot brake, you will need a a long breaker bar though

  6. Doc,

Thr ATB offers little over an open diff - pointless with the performance you now have, you want to be able to fully exploit it on tack and for that matter safely on the road too - so forget that as in term of bang for your buck its not a cost effective option.

The Drexler is the other end overly expensive, but a great unit.

If you don't mind rebuilding your LSD every other year and have limited performance then rebuild your Titan - again £800 plus every other year doesn't sound a great deal

Tracsport - designed for the purpose, tried, tested and proven before it was released for general sale, superbly engineered and offered a a sensible price.

Send your final drive to Steve at SPC in Redditch,  *thumbup*

  7. The biggest source is via the cap and this is dependant upon what type of seal and vent arrangement you have, most tintops simply vent to atmosphere where as other components manufacturers -  Wilwood, AP Race etc employ a sealed expansion bladder arrangement primarily for fluid containment, however the fluid can only access moisture from a small volume of air - there is no vent to atmosphere on the fluid side.

The biggest effect you can have is not only bleeding correctly but purging all the old fluid form the calipers, especially if you intend track driving, the rears have a tendency to hold a pocket of old fluid due the caliper being mounted at 90 degrees to its original design.

Some makes of fronts (and rears) offer 4 bleed nipples, you can therefore drain the calipers of old fluid and debris via the lower ones prior to bleeding the upper ones, the std rears being a single piston design need removing to purge the old fluid and bleed.

  8. Steve can make whatever quantities are required, getting CC to commit to placing timely orders which respect the timelines involved though is another matter ......

  9. The Tracspot LSD is also a superbly designed and engineered unit avaialble in both final drive options we use Ford and BMW and various set up configurations - by far the best plate unit I have ever used by a massive margin. *driving*
