  1. Advice needed here please....!

I'm Looking to build from a starter kit and as your probably aware you can only have 1 reconditioned part.

That said I need to produce invoices for all items in order to get the car on a current non Q plate

Can anyone offer advice or expiriences on 'invoicing' and what is declared on a certificate of newness how detailed is it? or is is simply a straight forward declaration of conformity by CC.

Any advice on getting through the paperwork in order to obtain a current plate would be welcome, - don't want to build it and fall foul at the last hurdle !!

    Thanks

  2. VHPD,

In a nutshell the VHPD head is a hydrid of K16 and VVC, having the valve & ports etc of he VVC but without the gubbins and running standard size cam journals.

    Hope this helps

    *cool*

  3. Try SJS cycles (St John Street) for the brackets and use with either Ultegra SLBS648000(8 speed) or Dura Ace SLBS77H(9 speed) or Dura Ace SLBS78H (10 speed) bar end shifters, alternatively try SRAM ESP with gripshift or X shifters they leave Shimano shifting for dead !

    cheers

  4. It's worthwhile noting that when you wind the pistons back take them all the way home and then back out 1/2 turn, this should help reduce associated handbrake problems once refitted.

If not the piston bottoms in the caliper causing a friction lock, and operating the handrake is insufficient to move them.

    hope this helps.

  5. Might be worth checking the disc for excess variation:

Take a micrometer (1") version, digital is easier to read, and take a reading at 'TDC' on the disc drop the mic down until it rests on the disc, zero the mic and use this as a datum, take another 7 reading at 45 degree intervals around the disc, a variation in thickness of more than 4thou in old money and it's new discs and pads time.

Variation is commonly caused by frequent heavy braking and then stopping and holding the brakes on, thus the part of the disc still in contact with the pads cannot cool to the same effect and acts as a heatsoak taking heat from the pads, the effect - the disc expands beyond it elastic limit and so cannot contract back to it original size.

Not saying this is the cause in your case, but it's another area to check.

    cheers.
