  2. yes it is located at the back of the gearbox on the right hand side when looking to the front of the car
  3. Hi Jonathan, To answer your question, It is the calibration of a new speedo I am trying to sort out, nothing else.
  4. Yes I have with what looks like a heavy metal cylinder about 30mm in length with wires attached. Ok, so that is where mechanical motion is converted into electrical. From a distance, that does not look easy to get at and not something easy to take apart to check magnet?
  5. Hi, I have a 2003 Caterham with 1800 K series and a 5 speed type 9 Ford box. My speedo is vintage 2002 and not programmable. Now on 13” rims my speedo speed can be well under my satnav speed. I have been in contact with Caerbont Automotive and identified a replacement. The calibration instructions I have been given are: On a prop shaft: - Calibration number = (wheel revs per mile/Km) x (diff ratio) x (number of magnets or bolts). I have a cable drive off the gearbox but at some stage this mechanical measurement gets converted into an electric signal. This is fed into the speedo via an 8 pin plug. I am ok with the first two parts but when is states – ‘number of magnets or bolts’ what does it mean and where would I look? Cheers Mike
  6. Hi, I have had a STARCOM set up for years. I am now having Bluetooth connection problems to my TOMTOM satnav (has always been tempremental) I have emailed them twice (a week apart) - no reply. I have just phoned them and been redirected to an answer phone for AUTOCOM. I have looked up AUTOCOM and note their phone number and address is the same as STARCOM. Does anyone know if STARCOM and/or AUTOCOM ceased trading? Thanks Mike

  15. I have an SV with a Rover 1800 VVC fitted with 4-2-1 exhaust. I have an MOT booked for 4th June. Is there a kind person out there, not too far away, that has one spare that I could use for this auspicious event? Blue Heaven Don't seek permission seek forgiveness.

  17. Thanks A great ReHaB response *thumbup*. I've got to get this done for Stoneleigh and I trust both you boys are coming (7:30 start and not Dick the day before start time). Blue Heaven Don't seek permission seek forgiveness.
  18. Whilst on a Sunday blat the car started to pull to the left during braking. I noticed also that the FOS wheel twitched over to the left. The FOS wheel has now been confirmed as the cause by tests being done while the car is up on axel stands. Harsh sudden braking did not produce the effect. I suspect the cause is a sticking piston on one side of the brake disc that does work when more force is applied. I have standard front discs so nothing fancy. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to strip down the disc brake piston assembly? If so are any specialist tools required and any new gaskets. Failing that, what Haines manual would they be in? 19. Has anyone heard of Cartronics in Byfleet? The mechanic that looks after the tin top tells me they are 'top class'. I must admit the web site looks professional. I have emailed them to ask what they can do to improve the power of my 1800 K VVC. For £399 they claim a 13+ BHP improvement. Is remapping the best route? Blue Heaven
  20. Thanks Paul I'll contact Norm. Blue Heaven
  21. Chris, I have just spent a drift day with like minded people and got involved in indicator warning/cut off systems. One guy was talking about one he fitted that was for a motor bike and had a time out feature. Having read all the above threads I realise that this could be a right pain when waiting to turn and the system cancels the indicator. The system you mentioned last year seems to have sorted this out. Any chance of any more info? Thanks Blue Heaven
  22. Delbert and Wile7, Sound like a great deal all round, thanks guys. Emma, what can I say but a big thanks. Could send you a tub of clotted cream????? Blue Heaven
