A little reassurance required please. Last night I was doing oil and filter change on my 1.6K series. On completion I started engine with the bonnet off and let it idle for a few minuets. After 5 mins I noticed smoke coming from the heater matrix. The smoke didn’t smell electrical. When I first drove up the road a small amount of smoke came into the cockpit. This soon cleared and during a half hour drive didn’t appear again. Any idea’s what this might be or why it might have happened? Thanks in advance.

I am looking for a new or new’ish windscreen for my 40th anniversary 7. Ideally complete with alloy surround. Mine is looking a bit scratched and chipped. Im in the Southeast, Surrey area. Thanks.

With the advent of spring a middle ages mans thoughts turn to enhancing his car.. I am thinking of adding a bike Speedo, I have done this before on my Motorbike successfully adding the sensor to the front wheel, but I am wondering if on the seven it would be better to attach to the prop shaft. Does anyone have experience of this and its relative success or otherwise, if successful, what the size setting would be adjusted to?

I want to put an oil tem gauge in my k series. I want to buy a VDO gauge but they charge separately for the sender. I have an old sender, does anyone know if the senders are generic i.e. I could use my old ender with a new gauge?

Could I have firs dibs on it then and come and have a look at a suitable time?

Biffo, I am interested and work in Farnbrough. Perhaps a daft question, I have a 96 1.6 Kseries would I be right in assuming it would bolt straight on and no changes would be required to the roof attachment studs etc? Regads Matt

What a great idea, would love to explore this further if its possible and not to expensive. Presumably it would also double as a lift to get access to the cars underside. Only problem I also have 3 bikes to consider squeezing in somehow!

Fairly sure that's how they should work, I have noticed the same thing on other cars.

I had a similar problem on my K series after suffering a split water pipe. When I warmed the car the temp gradually moved right up the scale up to 120. I bled the system repeatedly and changed the stat and temp gauge sender to no avail. Lastly I warmed the car up and removed the sender and put a thermometer in the aperture, it read 85 so I replaced the gauge and this solved the problem. No idea why high temp from a split pipe should damage the gauge but it seemed to.

I remember seeing some talk about some clear plastic sheeting that can be used to protect venerable areas from stone chips etc. Can anyone remind me what its called and suggest where I might get some?
