  1. Another vote for the FIA switch - I have two keys, so one is always left somewhere safe in the garage in case I manage to lose the one I have with me :).
  2. Hi, could anyone with a Duratec R500 help me out by checking the colours of the wires going into the back of the Brake Fluid/Handbrake warning switch? I had to replace the switch, and in my eagerness to get the old one out I managed to forget to note which wire went on which terminal! Cheers, Matt
  3. Quoting JetSepter: I can see the attraction of using a smartphone which will pair and provide music, phone and Satnav functions, but doesn't that get expensive when you go abroad? Haven't been abroad yet with it, but the Google Navigation is supposed to cache the navigation, so you don't have to have a permanent connection. Think I would rely on maps and only use the phone sat nav in emergencies to limit the costs. Still, good advice on the Sat Nav, if you are going to use it extensively abroad it would probably be cheaper to get one that has its own bluetooth connection.
  4. I have a Starcom1 Advance setup, with bluetooth module, and use it to hook up to my HTC Desire to play music, handle phone calls and as Sat Nav thanks to Google Navigation! So far it has been brilliant, and my understanding is that Autocom and Starcom are now owned by the same company and therefore there probably won't be much to choose from between them. I got the Starcom direct from them using the details in the club discounts section, along with bulkhead fitting kits and a pair of headsets (only Optime I, but the gubbins can be transferred if you need more hearing protection, lots of posts on here showing how). The bulkhead fitting is great, the unit is stuck to the back of the rear bulkhead (inside the boot) and then the sockets for the headsets are mounted in the bulkhead between the seats. They are weatherproof and the only thing on display (although the unit itself is removable if theft is a concern). Would definitely recommend.
  5. Quoting Clive Faulkner: Hi Matt How are you getting on with your refuelling? I'm due to pick up a new car from Caterham Midlands in a few days and I have had concerns since I read your post. I haven't had a Caterham for 10 years and there wasn't a problem with my previous one. I presume the pumps have changed since. Clive. Hi Clive, at the moment I have avoided any major rejigging by carrying a petrol can filler tube as per a previous suggestion. Unfortunately in my local area I still haven't managed to find a petrol station that uses the smaller filler nozzle. The closest garage I have found is the one up the road from Castle Combe :). So it does seem that most of the major franchise stations are now using a bigger nozzle, at least in the Southwest.
  6. Understood BOSS, was just hoping there was some trick I was missing
  7. At the risk of asking a stupid question, it appears that the dry sump tank on my new R500 SV is actually located just under the edge of the nosecone, such that I could probably just about reach in an unscrew the cap, but would have difficulty seeing in to check the oil level. Is this the standard placement, and does anyone have any hints and tips on how I can access it to check the oil level without having to remove the nosecone each time?
  8. They do both (the one in my car is an LSD). I also haven't weighed it as the car was built by Caterham, but they are telling me it is slightly heavier than the Ford diff. As to noise, I can't say I have noticed whether it is noisier than the Ford diff'd R500 I drove last year, as the sequential box and exhaust are doing a good job of drowning it out!
  9. Cheers Martyn, will give that a go tonight and see how I get on.
  10. Thanks for the replies, at the moment I think funnel is the winner given my lack of technical skills!
  11. Having successfully refueled at the weekend at a Texaco garage in the Midlands and driven my new SV back to Bristol, I now appear to be struggling to find a petrol station in Bristol that actually has a nozzle that will fit into the fuel tank. They seem to be at a funny angle. Could any Bristol based peeps suggest a suitable fuel station?

    New Diff

I too am awaiting the new diff, as apparently they need to source new prop and drive shafts to fit the SV. Does anyone know the specific model of the BMW diff?
