    Cage

Tom_C: I would be interested in your cage if it is the Caged version. That's of course if TonyC, Wahey, AndrewD & Gambo are not - some chance! ☹️

    MGB boot

Wahey: Try here. If you look through the parts for sale you may well spot an excellent MG Midget axle & tow bar. They look like real bargains to me......... HTH, Mark
  4. GrahamP: Thanks for that insight into your experiences with the rear ARB. I would agree that snap oversteer at high speed is not ideal. 😳 Doh!Nut: I'll check with Caterham to see if that bracket is still available. My friend already has the Caterham ARB, otherwise the FreeStyle solution looks like the obvious choice. Thanks for the replies.
  5. Thanks for all the replies. F355GTS (Mark): Thanks for posting the photo of your FreeStyle ARB, as they say 'a picture is worth a thousand words....' GrahamP: What was it about the handling that you did not like? Which front ARB did you have fitted to your car? Doh!Nut: Am I understanding you correctly, the ARB bracket is fitted between the top of the damper & the damper mounting point on the chassis? I don't suppose you know if the bracket was a Caterham part or a DIY fabrication?
  6. c7kjt: Thanks for the info on the introduction date for the DeDion. I'll pass on the Redline contact details to my friend. Nick: It would be very helpful if you wouldn't mind taking some pix of the installation of the rear ARB on your car. YHM. Griff: Where does the Freestyle ARB mount to the chassis, does it fit under or over the diff? Many thanks for all the replies. Mark
  7. Many thanks for the replies. Throbin Robin: Nice handle The car has a bit of a checkered history, so the precise build date is unknown, but thought to date back to the 80's (or possibly 70's if DeDions were made then?). I presume the mounting holes were in the chassis & the arms on the ends of the rollbar face backwards? andy_h: You say the ali blocks hold it to the underside of the boot. Is it bolted to the ali boot floor, is this rigid enough for the ARB to work correctly? Thanks again, Mark
  8. A friend is looking to fit a rear ARB to an early DeDion chassis. The lower chassis tubes do not have the inserts to mount the ARB aluminium blocks. Any ideas/recommendations for alternative mounting positions. TIA, Mark
  9. Rather undercuts my offering................but at least mine has been raced!

  11. Myles: Something strange here. I've checked a M8 caphead screw; the thread OD (outside diameter) is 7.9mm & the hex recess is 6mm A/F, normal pitch on M8 is 1.25mm (although 0.75 & 1.0 taps are available). Could it be a 5/16" UNF bolt? The thread OD would be 7.8mm & the 'normal' pitch would be 24 TPI (threads per inch) which equates to 1.06mm pitch? Also, the hex recess is 7/32" or 5.55mm. Just a thought, hope this helps, Mark I've got 5/16" 24TPI taper & bottom taps if you would like to borrow them. Edited by - Mark Gregory on 31 Jan 2006 12:38:05
  12. Wight: You CANNOT be serious...... 😳
  13. Not so much a corner of a field, more a side of a mountain which varies between sun, rain, wind & now cloud.......... ☹️ As for queuing, the locals need to learn a thing or two, it's anarchy in the bread shop - great chocolate croissants tho' Who's idea was it to come to Spain in January...........
  14. & I thought Myles was first in the queue (after all he started the thread), followed by coyoteracer11, followed by me............ho hum Mark in Spain in the rain (& I thought it was meant to fall mainly on the plain......)
  15. He´s still keeping an eye on things tho´ from sunny Spain.........
  16. I've formed an orderly queue behind Myles & coyoteracer.......... Oi! JP! stop pushing in.........
  17. Kevsta: I bought a Fiamm 345RC 53031 896 FS (30 AHr) for about £23 4 years ago for my Grads Xflow. It fitted perfectly & never let me down. I'd go for the cheap (but reputable brand) option. I believe other possible options are: Valeo 53030, Exide E60-N30L-A, Bosch 530030030. BTW the wings are still going strong! HTH, Mark
  18. Brownie: As Coyoteracer11 correctly says I had a cage made for my 1997 live axle car. I had to permission from Caterham to deal directly with Caged, I presume there is an exclusive agreement in place. Caged made the cage by fitting different rear hoop mounting plates to the RoadSport cage. I took my car to caged & 1 week later collected it with the new cage fitted. Cost was £700. HTH, let me know if you need any more info. Mark
  19. Steve: It has the black centre with the polished/lacquered rim. The polished part is discoloured in places where water has penetrated underneath the lacquer - grrr, also there is a 1" long 'kerb' mark on the outer rim. I can do a pic tomorrow if it helps.
