  1.

Coming back from Birmingham Sunday noticed a small amount of smoke from the bonnet vents when stopped at traffic lights just before getting home.

On inspection the foam filter is soaked with oil and despite the engine running oil smoke is coming out of the inlet. The same happens when the dipstick is taken out.

No noticable loss of power but guessing at best it is a head off job or engine rebuild (it has done just shy of 88,000 miles)

Or time to go R300 power!! *nono*

  2. Thanks chaps, it is an early K series SV

I have a multi meter but embarrassingly not sure that I know how to use it!!

Away at the moment but back tonight so might have time to investigate further

  3. Had an interesting trip back from Swindon last night

Jumped in the car, started fine, put sidelights on while belting up etc. Then switched headlights on and nothing apart from sidelights. Tried rocking the switch on and off but still nothing, flash facility worked fine so decided I couldn't wait for AA and drove home keeping my finger on the flasher, getting the odd flash from oncoming and staying well back from traffic in front. Fuses all ok, changed switch over and still no headlights, next suspect is the relay, anyone know which of the three is headligts? Other than that I guess it must be wiring. Any suggestions?

    Regards Paul.

    Hi Paul,

I know you say not new, but I would give Protech a call if stuck as their pricing is very competitive and would be bespoke manufacture. They did a set of non standard fronts for me, when I changed over to Siltech Racing Aerofoil wishbones, almost immediately and choice of colours on the bodies too!
