Thanks, yes I went for that in the end, my local trailer dealer said that's what they use.

I need to top up the tilt bed hydraulic reservoir, will Halford's jack oil suffice? BJ spares list doesn't show it (plus I've had my fingers burnt before with their prices!)
Thanks

You are also "modifying" the primary safety system (albeit with good intent) away from the manufacturers design. Have you advised your insurers of these mods?
All I do at insurance renewal is attach a list of all modifications and changes to the car, including items such as brake pad material and brake fluid, plus get a confirmation of receipt. Over kill maybe, but the insurance company have never objected (but I haven't made a claim either!)

CC parts previously indicated the narrow portion in the shoulder straps will allow a better fit on a HANS. CC also said have stopped selling the Luke 6 point (some old stock for the SV is left) due to Luke not applying for FIA Approval on the latest 6 point version.
Has anybody fitted this specific one from CC, as I need a new set? Presumably this season Acadamy cars have this fitted.
(apologies for thread hijack)
Malcolm.

Caterham also supply a complete 6 point Schroth

Not clear if this is the same?

Thank you for your work Andrew, as always very interesting.

Justin,
Nothing covert, just avoiding publishing the organiser's email contact on here! YHM too, anyone else, please drop me mail.

Try Omega Pistons Limited (incorporating Accralite) 0121 559 6778. I can't help with the latter question, hopefully Roger King will be along shortly to answer.

Later cylinder heads (with an auto tensioner) require a hole drilling and tapping to accept a manual tensioner. The cylinder head casting has the appropriate internal boss, just not drilled and tapped.
This was done for me by a L7C member and was straight forward, with the cylinder head on the bench. I guess it could be done in situ with precautions against swarf.

As ECR, 17 years without a problem.

There are plenty of the later round Freelander tanks on eBay which I think are type CC used later on as standard equipment for the K powered cars.

This is a Rover 200/400 series pre ‘95 part, identifiable on Rimmer’s (with a hacksaw to the original mounting leg on the underside). Unfortunately it is listed as unavailable now.

The camping mat is good also to line the rear wheel arches to give protection from stones causing star cracks on the outer gel coat

Luke 6 point may suit your needs with a D ring in the waist belts, but are a little wide in the HANS shoulder channels. Cheaper than the Schroth.

For the sump gasket on my twin cam, if it is a cork type, I fit it using gasket adhesive (eg Permatex Aviation), brush on and allowed to cure with light pressure from the sump for 12 hours before correct torque on the sump bolts. This will stop the gasket extruding when the bolts are torqued. Also easy to clean off with solvent compared to RTV on engine dis-assembly.
Also ensure the sump fitting flange is flat prior to fitting - it can get distorted at the bolt holes from previous over torquing.

I have two dedion cars here at the moment, a ‘94 car that doesn’t need a recess in the floor, and a 2001 car that does require a recess - so somewhere in between these years!
-
Be alert to the change in the position of the forward A frame chassis mount - this will affect the lowered floor type. I think this maybe around year 2000 or slightly earlier - maybe someone could confirm?
-
“they are drilled to fit your chassis”
The lowered floors are supplied undrilled, so it is necessary to use a hole finder to accurately drill the underside front and inner flange holes. The outer and rear vertical flanges can be drilled using the side / rear panels as jigs, with the floor in its correct fitted position.
Edit to add 5/32” hole finder:

Andrew,

Mark, the engine is a twin cam (in my Elan rather than my Caterham); there is plenty of Weber experience here and I knew the response would be quicker :-)
