  1. Just driven a three hour round trip to Millwoods ( usual excellent service with pitstop like speed changing a wheel bearing) through torrential rain and lots of standing water in Gloucestershire on 14 inch older Rainexperts. Excellent reassuring performance, cannot see why the newer version should be any worse. Also recommend the Morgan windscreen wipers over the Caterham standard!
  2. Hi Do you mean you have one surplus to requirement?
  3. Thought so, I think I have found a used one on eBay with keys, which I hope will work better than existing one. None of the usual old Rover suppliers have them, so looks like it's a scrapyard source
  4. Thanks Correct part number but doesn't seem to exist anymore on any internet searches. Following your idea of a wanted request
  5. Hi That would be great if you have one, assuming it still works! Simon
  6. This is to replace a worn out standard lockable, I think Rover , cap on my 2002 K series
  7. I have a straight forward lockable filler cap on my 2002 K series. Despite lubricating the locking mechanism it's become seriously difficult to un lock. I must be looking in the wrong place but I cannot find a replacement, any suggestions?
  8. Hi When I log on, I get an error message suggesting something has gone wrong. However the log on works and there is no problem accessing as a member
  9. Hi I know this is a popular conversion from the electrical one. Can anyone tell me the length of hose needed to get from the present oil sender point on a 1.6 k series (SV) to the back of the dashboard gauge?.Assuming the best route into the dash area is through the large grommet on the transmission tunnel. Thanks
  10. Yes, Rover two button immobliser fob, car used regularly and its a button fitted by me 15 years ago
  11. Has anyone experienced this. 2002 1.6 k series - had the hot start K series click but the relay mod cured that and hasn't been an issue for many years since. Occasionally now, and either on a hot or cold engine I turn the key , press the starter button- one click and the car is dead-ignition lights don't come on and it doesn't start. Immobliser led still works and disarming still works but nothing on the rest of the car.Leaving the car alone for several minutes has worked, today I disconnected the battery and reconnected it(rebooting?) and immediately the car was back to normal and remained so.
  12. Certainly the correct era, a members group purchase-essentially a circuit board and push buttons for the steering wheel giving a timed delay for the indicators plus buzzer
  13. Long shot here-I fitted , probably in 2003/4 an indicator timer and push buttons designed and made by a member (Chris W??) Works perfectly but I wonder if anyone has one and still has the wiring diagram after 20 years!

    Plug leads

Swapped to the new leads, cured-even think the car runs better than it has for months. I cut away the rubber shroud- not sure plug leads should look like this

    Plug leads

Thanks Have ordered two leads, hope this will be the solution as fiddling with them as worsened the problem. First engine problem in 20 years!

    Plug leads

Thanks Two coil packs over two of the spark plugs, those plugs are ' clean'

    Plug leads

Is there a torque setting? They are tight as they were to undo. Do the plug leads unplug from the coil pack, look like one piece but haven't tried pulling hard.

    Plug leads

Hi 1.6 k series 2002, 31 k . Recent intermittent misfire under acceleration. Took the plug leads and plugs out. Plugs look fine, but the non coil pack plugs are sooty as are the top of the plugs. Arcing? Cleaned them and put them back, lead is s tight fit. Now continuous mis fire. New leads?
  19. I have just bought a half hood, Caterham/Thundersport version. The side straps have a metal loop designed to fit with the spare hole on the flange at the base of the FIA upright. Is there supposed to be a large popper to fit here for the loop to go over or just trap it under a large washer? The Caterham video on how to fit it suggests that the strap is already fitted on new models so if this is the case has anyone got this and what fastening is used?
  20. So my 17 yr old 1.6 K has occasionally had this issue when hot,it is getting more frequent but always solved by rocking the car in gear. The grey?red wire to the solenoid has at some point come in contact with the exhaust and the insulation is damaged.Given the low mileage of 30 k can I assume that the solenoid is alright but when hot needs a higher current; by rocking the car it moved the teeth in the drive away from a contact point allowing it to gain some momentum before making contact with s tooth in the drive. If this makes sense doing the wiring modification will help?
  21. So I have a 2002 SV with solid brake pipes tie wrapped to the De Dion (self build)-this always looked crude but seems to work- what, if anything, is the advantage to changing to flexible hoses?
  22. Finally made a decision and bought rainexperts to replace both the not very worn front AO21 and the very worn rear. No track days yet but they certainly feel different to the AO21s, done about 100 dry miles on them running at 19 psi. Grip seem fine but harder ride. Interesting that the car doesn't feel as ' stuck' to the ride as it used to but the tyres are new, the AO compound I presume was softer so it's only a feel rather than a real difference. Shame the AO re classified for non road use- cos they were too noisy? Have they ever heard a Caterham!
  23. Hi Are these still available? Presume they would fit a 2002 K series
  24. Hi Count me in, what's the plan for paying etc? simon
