I've mentioned on another thread some idling problems with my EU3 1.8 K series - it starts up fine and sits at 2000rpm, then drops to idle at 1500. When warm it idles at around 1500rpm but does eventually drop.
I thought I'd have one more go at using the wisdom of blatchat before trying to arrange something with the contact Coyoteracer11 gave me!
So far I've:
1. checked for a sticking throttle cable
2. checked IACV,TPS and MAF plugs and wiggled the cables
3. swapped IACV
4. swapped TPS
5. swapped water temp to ECU sender
6. swapped MAF
7. reset the ecu using that ignition off, 5 times on throttle procedure at after each of the above
8. Revs drop if you pinch the pipe going to the IACV so I assumed that rules out an air leak in the manifold?
I passed an MG Rover place the other day and got them to plug it into their Testbook diagnostics machine. The only problem found was with the lambda sensor where the value gave a constant reading rather than what the bloke expected to see which was for it to fluctuate - does that sound right for those who know? Every other sensor was working as expected and there were no faults reported.
What I couldn't work out was whether (or how) that would cause the engine idle problems, could it have that effect? I don't really want to pay out for a new lambda for it to not resolve this issue - although if it is bust then I may need to get one anyway.
If anyone has any other opinions on what it could be or what I can try next please let me know as it's really beginning to annoy me now
Oh, and if anyone has a spare lambda in the Bromley/Croydon area (or Bournemouth as I'm here until Monday!) and doesn't mind me borrowing it to see if it makes any difference I'd be very grateful.
Cheers,
Karl.
