  1. I have 15 prisoners and have just replaced my wooden Pilots with 32Rs. The difference is immense. Have just done a very wet trackday at Cadwell and contrary to what you may have read they were bloody brilliant - very progressive and confidence inspiring.Have other people noticed that on the sidewall it says 'for sporty drive '- our Japanese friends never get it quite right .
  2. They have to go- I think nearly every copy since its relaunch in 97. Make me an offer - all proceeds to NTL. BTW- you collect.(theres about 60 odd copies )

  4. Gr- ta but it doesnt sound like the stuff- it was bright pink , 6 inches long and looked like , er , a vibratorwith a remaoveable top !
  5. There was a thread months ago about the merits of Rain X and some other fluid which came in a pink plastic container which looked like a sex aid (I am told ) . Pink stuff much better, gave my last lot away to a mate and find none of local shops now sell it. If anyone has details of maker of the pink stuff, or can point me to a retailer, would be v grateful. Not only is it good on 7 screen but excellent at keeping frost off Golf screen in winter.
  6. Put car in 'coon last week ; no problem . Until today . Saggy. Technical investigation reveals one fan blowing other not. Much jiggling of wires and **ing about produced nowt. Common problem ? Do Carcoon and co do spares? Thoughts please ? Will now see if they have a website with faqs
  7. Having had sand kicked in my face once too often I need more power for my 1.4 S/S - and go department not helped by interstellar gearing on 5 speeder.Like everyone else I know what I would like but sadly that doesnt coincide with what I can afford. The other factor is i'd like to keep the car and upgrade rather than get a new car- sentimental tosh I know but these cars are about heart not head. So I intend to look around for a secondhand 1600 k engine and then fit the s/sport kit to it.Good idea ?Demand for selling my existing engine? P/exes ? Or should I look for 1800 k instead and s/s that ? Any idea on prices or availability of secondhand engines ? Or should I do something different ? I DO plan to get 6 speed in a year or two but at moment my priority is a bit more power and a lot more torque if poss. Incidentally the plan wont be implemented until later in the year so cannot actually buy anything at moment (if you happened to have just what I want for sale I don't want to disappoint you ) All comments and ideas welcome- especially if you've been in same boat.
  8. If you want to drive any car properly- but especially a 7 - H n T is essential. And it isnt difficult- I have used the technique for 30 years starting with a Triumph Vitesse via 2cvs and God knows what else and it WORKS. Sounds wonderful too - why anyone would want to buy a 360F1 with a paddle and a box of tricks is beyond me !

Stuck record I know but I echo the Carcoon recommendations. My garage is an old stable with a soakaway in one corner and VERY damp.I bought a carcoon 4 years ago when I got my 7 and despite up to 5 months storage in a bad winter ( I live in the North York Moors ) it keeps the car dry as a bone.Conventional covers just lock the moisture in. And the time is coming for mine to hibernate- but after a 150 mile drive across the North Pennines this afternoon I'll be happy for a few weeks I think
  11. I too have a 1400 k and on advice from caterham agency ( auto centre in Darlington- highly reccomended ) am changing every 3 years-probably too often but it stops you worrying when youre doing 7k in second gear and enjoying yourself!
  12. Have played around with my K pressures- 15" Prisoners and Michelins (very staid I know ).Started 18 ,mistakenly convinced myself 20 was better and find 18 fine except for track work(which I do less than seriously ) and find 16.5 -17 fine as long as you let them get a bit of heat in - big oversteer on mine before they do- and Im not overendowed with power (or much else come to that except indebtedness...)with 130 bhp (allegedly)1.4S/S
  13. 4 years - several trackdays and 12k miles- 2 sets of pads.Don't worry about it ! Concentrate on enjoying yourself and do NOT worry about being slow- in terms of lap times a slow lap is only a few seconds more than a quick one.Its getting the last few seconds pared down which is the hard bit.If people timed cars on trackdays.Which of course they never do .

  15. I hope these words are not famous last ones but having read of your tribulations I am glad I live Up North in the middle of nowhere ! But one hint on vectas - my 93 7 was fitted with one which developed the amusing habit of immobilising me at random -after pushing it down the High street of local market town patience expired and got a shurlock system which has worked perfectly. But it won't stop the bastards winching it on to a truck I guess.
  16. My vecta started randomly immobilising me last year and after talking to Caterham I had a Shurlock fitted by the chap who does a lot of work for the factory. He came up to N.Yorks for his petrol money and a bacon sandwich, did the job excellently and the unit has performed faultlessly
  17. Ihave 1.4 SS on 15" Prisoners and 18 psi is fine;20 lightens the steering alittle-but its not heavy is it?- and the car is more bump sensitive on 20.I used a u/s pump last year which was reading less than 50% of real pressure and 45 psi is - challenging?-teeth rattle etc.....

    cwp

I have 1.4k s/sport.5 speed so v overgeared.6 speed the obvious but expensive solution.I asked Jez Coates for comment on different cwp-4.1or4.4.JC feels makes first even less useful etc.Im not a big fan of first so I am still thinking about cwp as a partial solution.Any comments or experience on this? And any previous owners of k5 fun or k14 cat(was factory demo car which was re registered0 welcome to get in touch
