  6. Alan, I noticed that you took a great deal of interest in putting up the awning on the ESV on Friday evening.......are you retiring to apply for the post of ESV manager!!! It has been good to know you over the last couple of years, I have enjoyed the banter! All the best to you and yours for the future
  7. This may be of interest. Coming back from a trackday last week i noticed my temp reading was 100c, it is usually high 80c. I got home OK (150 miles) but was concerned it would go into the red which it didn't. Thought it may have an airlock so i did all the usual things but the fan was still not kicking in until 100c.When it was cold and i turned the ignition on but did not fire the engine upI noticed that the needle on the temp guage went straight to 60c. A coleague informned me that it would be a faulty sender (single wire on the water rail). I put a new one on to day and the problem is solved. Fan now kicking in at mid 80c and the the guage is reading zero with the ignition turned on. Could be that your car is OK and that 100C is the new 80c!!! hope this helps
  8. Is a race prepared MX5 on the cards now for northern events?????? or maybe a new horse box
  9. Hi Paul, First dibs on your anthracites + tyres when you want to get rid of them. Can collect at CPOP!!
  10. Hi John, I will take the two with 4mm tread on @£45.00 please
  11. Hi John, If you will split I shall take the 2 with the 4mm tread. Are they £25.00 each (125 divide by 5?)
  12. Andy, SBFS Ebag for sale in "for sale" section
  13. Update.....Knackered battery!!!!! Borrowed a tester on Monday which showed it was not holding enough juice after standing for a day. Bought a replacement from "Tanya" delivered next day, charged and ready to go. Out for a blast this PM and all is good especially the EU3 upgrade from Z&F tuning!! *thumbup*
  14. Update......Put battery on charge for 4 hours until reading "fully charged and maintaing" started first touch, good and strong with no hesitation. I usually keep it topped up by using and "Accumate conditioner" which goes from amber to green when it is full. This has always been the case apart from today it was green but the battery must not have been fully charged! I shall get the battery tested tomorrow and check and clean all main connections and hope that sorts it. Do you think the immobiliser could be taking out more than the accumate puts in?
  15. Jonathan thanks for the input but the Alternator is OK. When attached to the Tin top to jump start, still sounds like a weak battery and will not turn over even though it is attached to the tin top with its engine running!!
  16. Car a bit lazy at starting since the winter layoff but always started. I was going to clean the terminals on the solonoid got broken off part way through and forgot to disconnect the battery ended up with sparks from bolt on solonoid to frame as the spanner touched both!!!!! I did not bother continuing but tried to start it,which it did first touch..no harm done. Up at six this AM for a trip up the Dales. Engine turned over fine but would not start. After a few attempts the battery gave up. Tried to jump start it from the Tin Top but would not even turn over...as if it was not attached to the tin top!! The battery is always on a "conditioner" for a couple of days a week to keep it topped up. Any ideas much appreciated as to what these symptons point to
  17. Hi Andy, I have a SBFS draught reducer. It fits S3 with Leather seats(2005 car) £55.00 plus postage.
  18. Thanks for all the input. He has tried jump starting from the tin top but to no avail, not even a "click" now. I have told him to sand / emery cloth battery / starter motor connections as per your posting Paul. Will wait and see what tomorrow brings. It has a 3.5 V6 engine so I suppose it will need some "oomph"to start it 😳
  19. My brother in laws Morgan has just arrived back from Dubai after eight weeks on the high seas. The battery was completely flat, but is now charged up. All the electrics work, but on trying to start it all he gets is a "click" no starter motor turning. I have told him to put it in gear and rock back and forth, but no joy. Your thoughts as to the problem or what to try would be most appreciated as always. It looks a very nice car but appears massive against the "7" with plenty of room to swing a cat and bring the kitchen sink.....I prefer the "7"
  20. Most enjoyable and rewarding day. Simon, my car has never been so quick (with you driving) Glad to get back on the motorway for a rest and a slow down. It was Seans first time in a "7" for 34 years, he is now searching Pistonheads for one to share with his son....job done. I hope both of you and Adrian enjoy your break in the sun
  21. All over Scotland from Thursday through to Sunday in a bright green R400 with winter tyres and an aero screen plus single tonneau and a tent that did not get much use! There you go Pete, you were "spotted"
  22. Heading through Oxenhope saturday pm. Trying very hard to do 20mph but failing
