    Suspension S4

I fitted Caterham S3 springs to mine as they have more space between the coils and will not go coilbound as the S4 ones do, I used the standard fronts for the road car and the race spec for my race S4, with adjustable spring seat Spax , the race spec can be used on the road , be aware that the ride is fairly harsh though with race spec.
  3. S4 seats are no longer available ,if you have the old ones they could be rebuilt by a good upholsterer as they are fairly basic with hardboard backing, i had mine rebuilt some years ago with marine plywood backing as the hardboard gets wet and disintegrates. I would doubt you would find any secondhand.

    S4 grille

The S4 grill is no longer available, but if you can find someone breaking a Plus Two Elan the trim from the sills is the same profile and this is the part that was used by lotus but cut up to the various lengths for the grill, expect to pay a high price even for a damaged piece.you will also require some threaded bar and spacers but they are easey to manufacture.
  5. Hi, i have raced an S4 for twelve years now with the same standard gearbox without any problems, i have about 160BHP. You could fit a straight cut box or fit the internals to your casing, Other gearboxes do not fit without major modification, I have a road going S4 that I fitted a five speed box from the 2.8 i capri some years ago and that required modifying the gearbox crossmember on the chassis, prop shaft, clutch etc and the gear lever is further forward. I use a 3.9 diff but if you have an all steel engine a 4.1 or 4.4 would suit better. If you want any more help let me know< i have had S4 Sevens for over 20 years now and currently have three, one race, two road cars.

  10. My heater control went off, i found that the multi plug that connects into the rheostat had overheated melting the insulation and causing the connectors to not connect properly ,usually just moving the plug in the connection wil get it working, but take care as it may short out, best bet is to remove the connection from the heater and rewire with some new cable and spade connectors. The connection is in the passenger side footwell under the dash accessable by removing the under tray, There are four connections be sure to rewire correctly or your speeds will not match up to the 4 positions, The rheostat is held in with a Torx bit, i have seen this fault on sevaral Mondeos
  11. Bonnet catch was just a Lotus part, petrol filler cap from Elan S4, Mick or John at Redline are very helpfull with S4 Sevens
