  1. My fuel line has got nipped just underneath the centre console/tunnel. I've taken some photos and uploaded them HERE (there's no need to log in or register). How can you repair the fuel line without replacing it fully or taking it to Caterham (£££)? Essentially, there's a small hole in the fuel line and I've been considering a couple of ideas below. I haven't yet cut the fuel line. 1. Cutting the line and putting reinforced plastic tubing over the fuel line with jubilee clips. This tubing, when warmed in hot water expands slightly and as it cools it contracts round the original fuel line. This can then be further secured with jubilee clips. 2. Some sort of male-to-male insert (like the old T section between the radiator and expansion tank) placed inside both ends of the fuel line (once cut). Then a regular piece of rubber hosing to go over this, secured with Jubilee clips. 3. A combination of 1 & 2. Male-to-male insert + reinforced plastic tubing. Any advice of other ideas and suggestions from someone who's fixed this sort of problem before are most welcome. 2. Thanks for the suggestions evryone - very useful. The affected area is small and only next to the front wheels where there were no decals etc. Not a big job, but happy to save myself time if possible. I'll feedback to the forum how it goes. All the best , James

  4. The spray from the winter roads has made the aluminium parts of my Caterham very dirty. Cleaning it fully has been tough. There a sort of speckled coating to it that does come off just from cleaning and polishing...but takes ages. Is there a means by which I can clean it without simply spending hours rubbing it with Auto-Glym resin? JC
  5. Geoff, Please put me down for a two places at Rockingham. Both myself and another Academy driver David Townrow will be coming in separate cars. I've profile-messaged you my details. James

    Spa

How are people travelling over there? I'm driving the Seven all the way there but can only leave from London on Tuesday afternoon/early evening. This means that I am to get a ferry/eurostar before 7pm, then get down to Spa late doors. Is anyone else on a similar schedule? It would be good to cruise down there with another Seven. James
  7. Thanks for the tips guys. I was never intending running a camera - not sure how that got into the thread of discussion. Anyway, the reasons I was considering making changes are two fold: 1. Not that happy with the existing Avon economy tyres. 2. I'm going to the Nurburgring with a work colleague in a RS4 and wanted to improve my top speed a little. His banter is incessant :) I have been, and will be, glued to Gran Turismo 4 and am expecting to drive the car to the track rather than trailer it. So far, I'm quite keen on the Aero screen idea. I'll keep the headlights on and leave the ride height alone. I'll have a think about the brake pads and tyres. Happy to hear more suggestions...
  8. Hi everyone, I'm looking to take my Academy car to the Nurburgring in the middle of this season and am interested to know what sort of temporary modifications I could make to improve performance. I can't really do anything that would take me too long to change back e.g. Engine/Gearbox etc as I'll have to get it back in spec for the Academy. I was thinking of: - different tyres - which sort should I go for? Should I get new wheels too? - removing the headlights to improve visibility and aerodynamics - any tips? Was thinking of adding some sort of QR plug. - putting the roof on (aerodynamic again) - thoughts? - adjusting ride height - what's recommended? All ideas/suggestions/tips are most welcome. JC
  9. Hi everyone - the price I put on was just based on my guess of what it might be worth. If Caterham parts supply @ £76 +P&P...then I'd be happy with £65 + P&P. How does that sound? Any takers? JC
  10. This is the gear lever, triangular plate and fork etc. But not the shiny gear knob that screws on to the top. It's still in the bag that came with my kit. Unopened/unused.
  11. Looking for a Second hand Minno trailer (or very similar size/design/price). I am based near Guildford and have another car with tow bar so I can collect.
  12. Brand new gear shift lever from a 2007 Caterham Academy/Roadsport kit (1.6L K-series with standard 5 speed gearbox) This part was never installed and is still in the plastic packaging. Guide price £80 + P & P I am based near Guildford - so if you want to collect, it'll save on postage etc.
