  1. Mark Thanks for your comments. I think the rpm setting that you're referring to is actually the setting at relatively low engine speed, a sort of threshold speed, below which no alarm parameters are logged. And yes, on my car, that is set down around 2000rpm (which is where I think Minister recommended it should be). The other rpm setting that can be set on my Stack is the one I was interested in; it's currently set at 7900rpm (so 100rpm less than recommended soft cut-out) but I'm still not sure whether that does anything, unless it lights up the alarm light in the Stack unit (in parallel to the external shift light sequence). As you say, I can always work it out when stationary and with a light right foot... I'll check on oil pressure when I'm next out but from memory I know it's pretty robust - no issues in that area (either in the engine or in the Stack reporting of it!). James
  2. I've spent some time using the search facility and reading the 'owner's handbook' but I'm still not clear on this. Maybe someone can clarify! Car is a 2004 R400 K series. It has the Stack instrument pack and the Caterham shift light (a cut-down ACES unit, which isn't 'user' configurable as far as I know). What I want to know is the relationship between engine rev limit setting, the ability to set "RPM Limit' in the Stack unit, and how this relates to the shift lights? So: 1. Maximum engine speed (hard cut-off) is set in the engine ECU, I think, and isn't affected by the 'RPM Limit' facility that can be adjusted and set within the Stack unit; is that right? (For a standard R400 K, I understand that the soft limit is 8000rpm and the hard limit is 8050). 2. Is the point at which the shift lights come on and increasingly light up (ie: more oranges come on and then the red) pre-set and independent of the settings elesewhere on the car (for instance, either in the ECU or the Stack 'RPM Limit' facility)? 3. If so, what is the engine speed/rpm at which the final red light comes on? 4. What is the function of the 'RPM Limit' facility in the Stack unit? I'm guessing that it isn't linked to the way that the separate Caterham branded sequential shift lights work, nor to any rev limit set on the engine via the ECU. So does that mean that it either (i) sets the point at which the built-in (in the Stack) alarm light comes on as a 'change gear now alarm' or is (ii) the trigger point for an external single shift-light system. I know this all sounds trivial but I can't get my mind around it - so any advice or knowledge would be welcome! James Edited by - james b on 9 Jun 2013 10:25:04

  5. I have an unused Vignette for use on Swiss Motorways which is valid through to the end of January 2011. It cost me €40, about £34 at today's rates, so I was thinking in terms of maybe £15 in total, to include a £5 donation to LtN?? Any interest?? James

Geoff Just to say that I would like to take up one of the available spaces, please, in the Blue group - I'll get a form printed and in the post to you with a cheque this week. Regards James Edited by - James B on 1 Jun 2008 21:07:03
  8. Does anyone have any good tips on how to increase the height of the centre rear-view mirror on a Caterham aeroscreen set up? I've found that, for track days, the standard position of the mirror completely blocks my view forwards and to the near side - so placing the car accurately for LH turns becomes impossible (well, that's my excuse, anyway!). I am thinking of increasing the stem length to raise the mirror; does anyone have experience of doing this? Is a longer stem available from Caterham or from SPA Designs? Or has anyone come up with a better fix? James
  9. Nick Your route dowm the M6 would certainly work well for me later today if Richard decides not to go ahead! James
  10. Hi I'd like second dibs, please, if Richard doesn't take them. Regards James
  11. I have a brand new Oregon ATC 2K 'action cam' that is still in the unopened blister pack. There have been a number of threads on these, if you care to search. My own plans have changed and I no longer need it so I'm willing to pass it on for what I paid which is £80 in round numbers (plus postage which I would guess would be around £5 or so). Altenatively, the camera can be collected either from the Leyland/Preston area or around Birmingham and Stratford upon Avon (I get around a bit!). James
  12. I have a pair of absolutely unused SPA carbon fibre mirrors with flat glass. These are the smaller sized version, with the mirror head mounted on a small shaft (about 5" long) which connects into an adjustable ball joint/mounting bracket. I think they call them GP1 or similar. They can be mounted directly onto the side screen (you just remove the existing standard mirror, use one of the holes to secure the new mirror and then you just drill one new hole through the side screen for the second fixing). Alternatively, and it's a bit more fiddly, they can be mounted on the screen stanchion/side member. They look quite cool on the car and,a s I say, totally as new. They cost me about £150 plus postage from DT; just looking for a reasonable offer for them both. James
  13. Looking for information on the male-to-male adapter that fits to the calliper in the CC 4-pot brake system as fited to my R400. The adapter that came with the replacement Goodridge hoses that I have bought is different from the old adapter pieces that I removed from the callipers. On the units I removed (and discarded!!), the threaded portion that screws into the calliper has a conical end which presumably seats into a matching concave surface in the calliper tapping, but the adapters that came with the hoses were have a squared-off end which doesn't seat securely. I'm after the spec details so I can pop out and get a couple of the right parts over a counter somewhere. Anyone know the details? James
  14. I was searching recent threads for the best way to secure rear wings with plastic/nylon bolts instead of the standard metal types, and after a bit of digging I found that - contrary to speculation and rumour - Karsten is still able to supply his kit of plastic bolts, rubber riv-nuts, stainless washers and an appropriate quantity of nuts. Current charge is £9 including airmail postage - just ordered a set as this seems a cheap way of avoiding the prospect of unnecessary damage to the body panels in the event of a minor misunderstanding with trackside furnitre or similar. Email address for Karsten, for those who are interested, is: KT@Titgemeyer-Online.de Regards James
  15. Having sold my previous 2.0Vx HPC I am now a cash buyer looking for a good (non-race) R400, preferably with low miles. If you are thinking of selling or if you know of someone else who might be, please mail me or call me on 07714 693192. Thanks! James
  16. I'm looking - rather urgently! - for a standard stainless exhaust manifold for a 1993 Vauxhall 2.0 16valve HPC. By standard I mean it's got four pipes going down to a single collector, with a lamda sensor tapping around the collector area. The Caterham part number is CSP293. Maybe someone who has upgraded from standard might have one surplus to requirements? James
