The comp sec has sent out an email about tyres, not sure of the circulation of this. I think the discussion has been prompted by the imminent closure of Avon tyres, probably meaning no more ZZS's.

Class 3 is list 1b and I believe that's how it should remain. If ZZS is not in list 1b then competitor's should be free to choose another from that list. This keeps our championship inclusive. Nothing to discuss as far as I am concerned.

I think there is a competitors' meeting at Curborough to discuss this and a few other issues.

  2. In 2022 an RS Interclub license was £69, might be modest increase for 2023

No medical is required for this.

Series registration fee was £30 in 2022.

Entry fees for events range from about £100 to £150. If there are 2 rounds over a weekend that will cost double although some organisers offer a small discount if you enter for both days.

You will need a minimum of an FIA roll bar and petty strut, you may already have this. No other major expense on the car until you get hooked and decide it is not fast enough!

Personal safety equipment....Helmet, Race Suit, gloves. Cost about £600.

Travel and accommodation for more far flung events, camping is usually allowed in the paddock which is the cheapest option.

Have a read of this page as well: https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/competitors-area/competitor-home-page

    Give it a go!

  3. Hi David

There will probably be true experts along to answer your question soon.....

I did this as part of a rebuild a few years ago and a bigger issue is that the gudgeon pins on the standard rods and pistons are a press fit. Forged pistons will need the rods machining so that the gudgeon  pin is fully floating. So for a bit more money than the cost of machining the rods I fitted steel rods which are fully floating as standard.

I guess you only need to replace the liners if they are worn. Probably you could get them glaze busted to give a surface for the new pistons to bed into. I fitted new liners.

You are probably looking at a bit over £1000 to do this.

Dave Andrews will give you advice on all this (and sell you the parts)

  4. As most of you know John Martin will be working in our annual video this year which will be shown at the awards lunch and then put in You Tube.

In the meantime he has done a bit of work on the 2016 and 2017 videos originally created by Jon Davies. These are now on the club's YouTube channel for you to enjoy.

And just a reminder that we need material for this year, you can upload photos and videos here:
